Is the approximate number of people who are invited to apply for Chancellor's known?

Pitt’s one of my safety schools currently, but because Chancellor’s has 5 essays in total and I already have another safety, I’m not sure if I should keep my Pitt app, on the off-chance that I get invited to apply for Chancellor’s.

I’d rather spend the time on other apps if I know I have slim chances for Chancellor’s. I know from the site that 80 are invited to interview from those who apply after receiving the nomination and about 11-12 students receive it annually. Getting Chancellor’s is the only reason I would attend Pitt because I know my parents would rather shell out extra money for our state flagship so I could stay fairly close to them. From reading old threads about merit from Pitt, it seems that it’s pretty generous but very stats oriented. My stats are alright (SAT to ACT conversion: 34 ACT, 3’s 4’s and 5’s for AP scores), but not spectacular when compared to a lot of the people aiming for Chancellor’s. I had a huge downward trend junior year and my freshman year GPA is keeping me afloat UW GPA-wise right now. My school doesn’t offer that many APs, so my WGPA is lacking. I don’t think Pitt evaluates EC’s because there’s no spot for them on the application according to older threads, but mine aren’t that fantastic anyways.

Stats get your toe in the door for Chancellor’s but they are looking for a secret sauce that isn’t yet well defined when it comes to Chancellor’s. PLENTY of ACT 34-35 kids are not extended an invite to apply for Chancellor’s. I suspect students are invited to apply somehow are able to show their unique ECs and a passion for learning for learning’s sake and not to fill out a resume. But that’s just a hunch.
