Is the Barron's SAT 3500 word list useful ?

Hello. My first language isnt english. I havent studied English very much and I will be 11th grade this autumn(17 years old, sat deadline - january 2011). In my high school we dont study english very much - level B1. I have been to a CAE(C1) course i know the tenses. I have very bad vocabulary(500-600 words max) but i have read 4 harry potter books in english. I didnt understand lots of words and sometimes whole sentences but i could understand what was happening.I got 58% score on CAE and i studied a month and a half for it(60% is the minimum pass score). I have very good reading comprehension skills but i cant understand sentences in which i dont know half of the words - like some of the beginning SAT CR questions with 1 or 2 gaps.
So i started learning the barron list. I have studied 1/5 of it. The hard work needed for the whole list is not a problem for me.I can do it and i will be able to understand at least 90% of the words if i see them in a text (i have found some of the words in the list in the National Geographic magazine and i knew them).

But will the whole list be enough to do well on the exam on the Reading part even if i have good reading comprehension and know how do to tests (which i am sure i will be able to do after i do the test in all the books with practice tests i bought - kaplan, macgraw, princeton, college board + barron sat 2400 guide)

p.s. math (on the SAT) is not a problem for me; i will get a very high score. Writing is not required for admission in the university i want but if i have a good score on that part i will have a better chance for getting financial aid(which i really need…)
Im sorry that my thread is so long :(

Take a look at the new sticky.

Oh, and to answer your question, no.

thank you for your answer bigb14.

is this the sticky ? How to Attack the SAT Critical Reading Section Effectively there i read that the best list is Direct Hits Core(book 1) and Toughest(book 2) Vocabulary. does anybody know how many words are there in both books. they didnt give the exact number in the description at amazon and the direct hits website

About 400 words in direct hits (2 books)
Rocket review has 323 words.

You’re looking for efficiency (3500 words is not efficient)

The sticky is the very first thread in this section. (says important)

There’s also a search function that you can use on the upper right hand side.

Welcome to the bordz!!!
