Is the difference worth $200

The differences, from what i can tell, is

X5A: 2.40 ghz processor with 3mb cache
D1: 2.66 ghz processor with 6mb cache and is .01 lbs lighter

Do you think the upgrade is worth the $200

Depends really on what you use it for, but the 6MB L2 cache is very noticeable. Other than that, they’re one of the same.

Well, I’ll be majoring in computer science so i figure I would be doing some light programming. I also have a pretty large music library which i intend to import on to the laptop, and i’ll be playing some older games, like half life 2, and other source engine games. Besides that, just email, IM, and web browsing stuff.

bump bump bump

The 2.66 ghz Intel processor, while SLIGHTLY faster, runs at 35w versus 25w and thus you will get less battery life out of the more expensive laptop. I also looked at the measurements, and it looks like the more expensive one is half an inch thicker and a bit wider. I’d go with the first one.
