Is the only financial aid im getting from the Pell grant?

Hello, I have submitted my FASFA and CSS and to my understanding I am eligible for the Pell grant, and the estimated amount from the Pell grant is around $1000. I would like to know if this Pell grant is the only source of financial aid that I will receive . If it matters , I applied to UVA, William and Mary, and Virginia Tech.

Are you instate for VA?

Have you used the Net Price Calculators for those schools?

UVA promises to meet need.

Fafsa results may only tell you about fed aid.

It will depend upon the school. The only grant money that you are guaranteed to get is the PELL and it would be from the federal government and would be the same amount for each school. If your state has guaranteed money for students, like NY does with TAP for familes making below $80K, that would also be an entitlement you automatically get. That is is with the entitlements.

You can BORROW up to $5500 from Stafford loans on your own, and that again is a governement program. Again, the amount is portable from school to school.

I suspect you will get different packages from all three schools. UVA does guarantee to meet need, but it is need as defined by the PROFILE, not the FAFSA< so the contribution that school expects may not be the same as your FAFSA EFC. Whatever they figure would be your need, they will meet.

I don’t know how W&M does their need analysis. I don’t believe they make the guarantee that UVA does, but I don’t know if you need PROFILE for them or if they stick with FAFSA only.

Nor do I know if VT uses PROFILE, or just FAFSA only.

You are likely to get three different packages from the three schools if accepted to them. There might even be merit in the mix to confuse things even more. But the PELL will be the same there, and so will the Stafford entitlement , but the schools are likely to take at least some of that and make you use it towards your need., so some or all of it will be part of your need package, most likely.
