Is the SAT Writing section based off the Chicago Manuel of Style or AP Stylebook?

<p>In any contradiction in terms of grammar or style rules, which book would be followed? I always hear people recommending others to use the WSJ and NY Times to prepare the CR sections, so I have begun to wonder which CollegeBoard actually follows.</p>

<p>I’ve studied and used MLA format all my life, and got an 800 on the SAT writing section. I don’t know of any major differences among MLA, AP, and CMS writing protocol.</p>

<p>AP style has really no grammar rules, iirc. It’s mostly punctuation, numbering, capitalization…rules that are supposed to save newspapers some space.</p>
