Summer orientation at UMass is where you register for your fall courses, among other things.
Well, yes and no. If you have a very good reason that you can’t attend, they’ll unlock your Spire account to allow you to register for classes at home. It’s strongly recommended to go though, since you get to get a feel of campus for a bit (plus it’s an overnight kind of thing). It’s not gonna be as big as the main orientation though (that one is when you actually move in in the fall).
P.S: If you do decide to go, you should bring a fan with you. There’s not gonna be any AC if you end up staying the night in Northeast, and when I had mine, it was crazy hot that night.
