Are there a reasonable amount of hot chicks at the university of Chicago?

Thanks.

I really really don’t get people who ask this question. I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ at a particular non-athletic-centric university is anything but roughly equal to the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ you find anywhere else.

That said, I’m sure you’d get a lot more action wherever you go if you stop calling them ‘hot chicks’.

Oooh I like Estrats reply.

I agree, with him/her.

Also, hot is not a word that I’m particularly fond of, either. If you want to (Quoting Will Smith here) “Get Jiggy wit it”, then you might want to try a softer approach.

Though, I suppose, there are women with low standards everywhere you go. Add alcohol to that equation and I’m sure you’ll be “Getting it on” in no time.

Oh my; what a raunchy post.

No one is hot at UofC in January & February…

Ba dum psh!

Touche, idad, touche…

oh yeahhh, they sum hawt biotches ova herr! damn, these ladies are fine. trust me, mr. morales, you ain’t need a trick to score.

I don’t understand why some people here can’t perceive why this question is indeed a valid question to ask. For most people, even UChicago isn’t solely a learning institution but it serves as a meeting place for potential partners. Psst. Even intellectuals can appreciate beauty. Many men and women would like to be aware of whether the place they will spend the next four years of their lives is lacking in potential partners.

Estrat1 wrote, “I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ at a particular non-athletic-centric university is anything but roughly equal to the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ you find anywhere else.” yet I personally DO think that the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ at a particular university differs from some percentage you would find somewhere else. Every university has different reputations and UChicago is particularly well known for our intellectual rigor. Not for our consistent, nationally-recognized sports teams or our beautiful warm weather or for being a college where you can slack off a bit and still get good grades, each of which I am sure contributes to the percentage of ‘hot chicks’ you would find on a particular campus.

You are not going to see Victoria Secret modelesque women strutting in short shorts and tank tops because IT’S ****ING COLD most of the time. Furthermore, we have a very intellectual campus which brings in many men and women who respect themselves and don’t feel the need to workout everyday and spend an hour in front of the mirror getting ready for class. These phenomena could certainly give you the impression that UChicago doesn’t have its share of sexy women.

Now, this entire discussion all depends on one’s definition of ‘hot chicks’. You might find, to your taste, that there are more ‘hot chicks’ on a UChicago campus, chicks that dress like they want to dress, don’t lather themselves in makeup, and respect themselves. But if your taste is more in line with Victoria-Secret models, you will not find (or, maybe, more correctly stated, be able to recognize) a high percentage of those type of women here, because there is less pressure to go to the gym everyday, to look fine on your way to class, and can you really recognize hotties under 4 layers of clothes?

Nevertheless, estrat1 does hit a bit of a point – all of what I’m talking about is generalizations and there are always exceptions to the rule. I think you were inquiring about the norm, however, and that’s what I responded to.

You will certainly find attractive girls at the UofC. Whether there are a disproportionate number of stunning ladies here relative to your state college is something only you can really answer by visiting.

Well, I suppose Windslicer is correct in saying that the post has a point, however I think the way Mr. Morales went about asking his question was wrong. I know that I myself am going to be on the lookout (Ok, I admit it sounds really weird when I word it like this myself) for potential relationships. But…my criteria certainly doesn’t include “Hot” I guess it is generalizing…but when someone talks about “Hot girls”, I perceive them as a bit shallow. So I suppose we ran wild mocking him for that…instead of answering the more mature version of his question.

I agree, though. It really is quite random. There will be tall girls, short girls, skinny girls, fat girls, blondes, gingers, brunettes…french girls, swedish girls, Jewish girls (Like me :D) etc etc. I think you get the point. Everyone is going to be different (And thank god for that) and some will meet your criteria for “Hot or not” and some won’t. Just like some of the guys I (hopefully) meet next year will be attractive or not.

Yea, I don’t get this either. Not even picking on the person who posted the question either (I saw a website called ‘college *******’ that actually ranked the how attractive the student population of schools were). I have absolutely no idea how any university would have a level of “hotness” noticeably different than the aggregate population. What factors contribute to an attractive population? Do some schools attract a more attractive student body than others? If so, how?

UChicago gets a C from a Certain website which may nOt be taLked about unLEss you want to GEt censored for Posting References tO the site Which is speLlEd out in capital letteRs.

I looked (very quickly) through the thumbnails of the UChicago 2012 facebook group and took a small sampling.
Take your typical college girl normal distribution on a scale from 1 to 10. Drop the mean about 1-1.25 points and raise the standard deviation about 0.4-0.5 points and there’s U of C (from my perspective.)

Lets assume the original poster is adhering to a generic definition of hotness. Instead of reading into it too much, lets just assume that we’re going on the general construction of the term (read: just look at a maxim to figure out what the generic definition of hotness is).

Then, to answer the OP’s question: NO. There is NOT a “reasonable” (compared to other schools) amount of hot chicks at the U of C. First and foremost, the U of C is a nerdy place that attracts a higher concentration of nerds than many of its peer schools. (The ivies, for example, still need to field squash teams and rowing teams and are generally more jock-ish, and the jock culture lends itself to more people who are generically hot). Generally, the U of C is not a very typically good looking place at all.

To read more about this, read this interview:

[Uncommon Interview: TuckerMax - The Chicago Maroon](<a href=“Quartet-in-residence again awes the Mandel faithful – Chicago Maroon”>Quartet-in-residence again awes the Mandel faithful – Chicago Maroon)

Chicago is more well-adjusted today, but Max’s sentiments still have some substance to them. Chicago certainly isn’t Dartmouth or Williams or Princeton.

Also - this goes for both guys and girls. The guys aren’t particularly good looking in the classic mold (read: tall, athletic, etc.). The U of C is still a very nerdy place, and generally, nerds don’t fit the classic mold of attractiveness as much as, say, jocks do.

For photos of what U of C students look like in groups, go here:

http://coup.uchicago.edu/

Then just go to the photo gallery and look at pictures from summer breeze or other university-wide events and parties. You’ll see large crowds of U of C students in the pictures and, well, they still remind me a lot of when I was at Chicago - the U of C is a pretty nerdy place. (But the nerds have pride :-).

I’d imagine if you look at pictures from Princeton’s Ivy eating club or something like that, the photos would be pretty different.

Lol Ramocito I think you are posting this to the wrong school.

I’m not a shallow person by any means. But the truth is that a woman’s physical attractiveness is what reels me in, and from there on in it’s all abot the personality.

I should be attending the University of Edinburgh in the next academic year, and I am very interested in going to the University of Chicago as an exchange student for my third year of study.

Like any exchange student, I would like to appreciate the intellectual environment which Chicago offers, and hopefully build contacts and connections to aid a future return as a postgraduate student.

However, I would also like to meet lots of attractive girls as well, and maybe even find a special someone. I don’t think that this is shallow, I’m just a guy and this is how I am. I’m not looking for girls in bikinis or anything like that, because we all have our own definitions of what attractive girls are.

I’m sorry if my first post was crude, but living in the UK, I do not know much about American slang.

If one believes in cultural fit as an important factor in picking colleges, and I take that view, then concerns about the “attractiveness” of students on a campus is certainly legitimate.

For example, my D loved UofC and hated Northwestern partly because of the appearance of the students. She felt NWU looked like a J. Crew photo shoot, and UofC looked more like her style.

Is this “hot” versus “not”? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I agree the OP could have chosen different words for his (I presume) post, but even the word choice tells me that he’s not (probably) a UofC type person, although even that is open to debate, in fine UofC tradition.

Of course, the best way to answer such a question is to visit the campus and decide for oneself. After all, this is a very personal matter.

I would suggest that when evaluating “hotness,” there are at least three factors:

It seems to me that Chicago is likely to lag behind a school like USC on all of these.

This really isn’t an appropriate topic for parents, but why should that stop us?

From personal observation, there are plenty of nice-looking women at Chicago. Whether proportionately it’s more or less than at USC, Dartmouth, or UIUC, I don’t know.

From personal observation, whatever the percentage of nice-looking women is, it’s somewhat higher than the percentage of nice-looking men. That’s not because of genetics or anything, it’s because the women on average spend more effort (even if it’s not necessarily a lot of effort) on personal appearance and personal hygiene. (And I suspect the disparity gets worse if you could somehow limit the comparison to straight people.)

To Hunt’s list, I think you really have to add being an interesting person and doing interesting things. Because if all you are going to do is gawk and perhaps hit on people, that’s creepy.

Luckily for everyone, nature has wired you to get attracted to the people who are available to you on a regular basis. Whatever your orientation, I guarantee that your libido will work fine at the University of Chicago. And if it seems to be lagging, a combination of dim lights, dance music, physical proximity, and a modest amount of alcohol has been known to increase dramatically the number of hot people in the immediate vicinity. All of that is easily available at Chicago, too.

Quite. I may be old, but I’m not dead, or blind.

dang people the kid just wants to know if there are good looking chicks at uchic…not just nerdy ones…sure he approached it with vocabulary that would suggest immaturity and inexperience but the question still stands: are there good looking women at uchic? and i bet ther are…and if not chicago the city will have plenty
