Consolation, I wish Barry could have gone into the live rounds. He was certainly talented enough to continue on and more talented than many of the ones going into the live rounds. I don’t think Adam made a bad choice in keeping Tonya but, admittedly, thought she had her worst performance to date on Monday night’s show. Did Barry get discriminated against because of his age? Perhaps…
Tuesday’s show will serve to recap the 5 singers from each of the 4 teams going into next week’s live rounds.
I thought the background music was too loud for a lot of them tonight.
I thought the boys did well tonight, but I’m not sure all of them will make it through. It’s probably the end of the road for Lowell.
I have always liked Caitlin but was not nearly as excited about her performance tonight. Maybe because I didn’t know the song very well. Or maybe I wasn’t really paying attention. lol
I am not a Meghan fan. Thought the rest did fine but not a lot of wow! performances tonight IMO. Still a huge Sawyer fan - I like his poise and sense of ease while performing.
Christina irritates me so much. I wish they would find a permanent replacement for her.
I have always liked Caitlin too, but maybe tonight wasn’t her best. Still pretty good, though.
I had to laugh when she was telling Pharrell how much she had sacrificed for singing. Put her job on hold…in customer service, followed by her talking about the succession of odd jobs that she’d held. Yep that was a sacrifice, putting that customer service job on hold, gonna be hard to get back into that, such a tough field to break into.
Carson Daly said tonight’s performances were going to be “stripped down” so the voters could hear each performer’s voice. There wasn’t a whole lot of stripping (down) from what I heard.
Only performances from Teams Blake and Pharrell, then tomorrow night Teams Adam and Christina.
Agree with Toledo about Hannah. A pleasant surprise tonight. Good song choice from Blake and a more natural performance. She’ll probably be safe this week.
Finally, 5 performers in and a stripped down performance by Mia Z. I liked Mia better last week but I still am a fan.
I’m not getting the “Koryn love”. She has a nasal tone and she always sounds shaky to me.
The coach comments at this stage of the show seem pointless to me. All sugar coated. Not much constructive criticism. Don’t want to sabotage other team’s singers. Adam finally broke the streak of sugar coating with his Corey comments.
Corey is the only country performer on Team Blake. This was a weak season for country artists and Corey was not the one Blake should have kept, imo. I’m hoping Meghan can cross over and fill the “country void” on Team Blake.
Brooke is adorable but she was not that “great” or even “good” tonight.
Meghan and Sawyer were clearly the best artists tonight. I did not like Blake’s song choice for Meghan but she can still pretty much sing anything really well.
Sawyer gets all my votes. I could listen to him all day. Absolutely love this kid!!!
Three move on from each team. If I were to pick it would be Koryn, Mia and Sawyer from team Pharrell and Corey, Meghan and Hannah from team Blake. Blake’s team is a shallow pond imo.
I don’t get the interest in Hannah, at all. I only saw part of the show, and admittedly only heard Hannah from the bathroom (colonoscopy prep), but her voice is harsh and unappealing. Can’t imagine wanting to listen to that on the radio.
Ha, thanks! Supposedly the tough part is over. It has given me an opportunity to listen to the singers without watching them. Definitely a different perspective.
Sawyer has a unique and intriguing voice and undeniable charisma. I think he’s the first performer on The Voice with a a chance at true stardom–something the show really needs. (Then I think of Justin Bieber and worry about what happens to kids who achieve fame and fortune in their teens–though Sawyer’s roots seem pretty solid.) As for the rest, while some of the female singers are accomplished vocalists, they’re all ultimately pretty forgettable. I always go for the singer who has a special tone or style that makes him or her immediately recognizable on the radio. I don’t think any of the other contestants fill that bill, and none has a shot at fame, but if the show affords them the chance to make a living out of singing, I guess it’s done its job.
Last night was the first time I enjoyed Hannah…I don’t think she has what it takes to win but I can finally see the potential she has to be a successful entertainer. You’re not sure what to expect once she gets into it and that can be a lot of fun to watch.
Also see lots of potential in Mia Z, her interpretation of the song and her confidence on stage. I expect her to stick around awhile.
Lowell was disappointing for the second time. Poor song choice, imo, and I really don’t like this affectation of touching his face. It looks phony. He should go back to the Sinatra, Buble style of song.
Ah, Sawyer. His voice is sublime. The song last night though was the first time I felt his youth as a detriment…that he is too young to have the emotional depth that would have made the performance truly great. I found myself wishing he hadn’t come on the Voice scene til he was a little older, 18 or 20.
All the other contestants were more forgettable to me.
It would be nice for the Voice to crown a young performer again. CWB was the best last year, but the show should not about given second chances to people who were backup singers and had up and down careers. It would also be a nice departure from that overrated Chin lady.
Sawyer presents a nice combination of charisma and talent. He does, however, messes up the lyrics and timing of the songs and his range is limited. He will be among the finalists and I wish him (and Dstark) well.
By the way, the road to true stardom is perilous. There have been performers on this type of show who were much better and did not do much afterwards. The difference between shining on an ultra-edited and ultra-produced show and actually selling records people want to buy is huge. I like his live performance but I doubt I would buy his records.
