would have been happy with either! great show…

I would have been happy with any choice, but this does make me smile! :)

The autograph javier gave me is now worth millions :)

Great ending–I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Hmm…I just checked itunes. The Voice certainly helps sell songs!!! I’m curious though…does anyone know how much of the $$$ generated goes to the singers and how much to The Voice’s producers/owners?

^Good question, jonri, but I didn’t see where these financial details were revealed. Maybe someone can come up with the answer who’s better at web surfing than me.

I was glad to see Javier win although I thought Dia and Miranda had the best duet tonight-- by a mile. For me, it wasn’t even that close. Miranda Lambert is at the peak of her career vocally and, sadly, Stevie Nicks has hit rock bottom.

I cast my votes for Javier last night. For me, it was as much about liking him as a person, and his personality, as much as it was about him as a singer. This reinforces the notion that these shows can tend to become a popularity contest instead of solely a singing competition.

I’m really glad the gay community was represented amongst the finalists, with Beverly and Vicci. Let’s not forget that Nakia was also gay.

Thanks everyone for your great insights, including all of our 87-year old “couch buddy”. I can’t wait to hear who she is rooting for next year, when she turns 88.

Now, it’s on to SYTYCD!

I haven’t found an answer yet, but there are some interesting articles on line about the show. One is in The Hollywood Reporter, which says the “word” is xtina A got $225,000 PER HOUR for the show and the other 3 judges each got $75,000.

The show ended up costing about $2.3 million to make. Apparently the idea was also shopped to CBS, which turned it down when the #s got too high.

All 4 judges are to return and the plan is to have two contests next year.

As you know it’s based on the Dutch show. So, the Dutch originators are involved in the US version and get a slice of the pie.

All the contestants had to learn to use social media–it was a big part of the training!
NY Mag has an interesting article about which judge benefited most–says it’s Shelton hands down.

Interesting stuff–but still no answer to my question.

Definitely agree that Blake Shelton benefited the most from The Voice. I’d never heard of him, but the show introduced him to a whole new audience. I found him quite likeable and engaging. I like his voice also.

Stevie Nicks can’t hit the low notes anymore. So sad…

I can’t complain–Javier or Dia–sounds like it was pretty close.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future brings for the contestants. Will Xenia mature and become a star? Will Javier’s success “stick” this time? Will Dia fade into the sunset as many an AI second place finisher? Will Lily Elise be “discovered” now that she’s had some TV exposure? Will more bald women show up for auditions?

I guess we’ll see…

I still have yet to watch the whole show, but saw the results moment announced on NBC.com. I’ll watch the duets tonight. So glad for Javier, but also glad that Dia was only 2% away and that she was the top iTunes song. I think for Javier it will stick this time because his personality is also what makes him likable. Maybe his label dropped him because he was bald? Their loss … I hope they are kicking themselves now. ha! Of the judges, I think the three guys ended up doing better for themselves, especially Adam. Christina is hopefully reading the reviews and does on check on herself. She no doubt is a great singer, but perhaps she can improve the way she presents herself and also what she talks about on TV (Patrick, take your pants off … still is offensive when I think about it.) And will Lily Elise get discovered … I hope so. I read her twitter (LilyElise) and she says something is brewing.

I just heard that Christina is holding out for more money. I say cut her loose if she gets too expensive.

So here’s a game: What woman would you like to see there instead of Chrisitina, one the producers could get? Patti LaBelle? Jewel? Lots of options …

Which woman would I want to see if Christina doesn’t renew … good question. Esperanza Spaulding (New Artist Grammy this year). Lady Gaga. Katy Perry. The girl from Glee with the big voice. Celine Dion. Jennifer Lopez (oh wait, she’s already busy.)

^Jewell just signed on to do a new singer song-writing show on the Bravo Network, along with Kara DioGuardi called “Going Platinum”. She would be a good choice to replace Christina if she were available. I guess CA really HAS gotten “too big for her britches”, if you know what I mean!

I think Celine Dion would be a great replacement.

I missed it last night but watched it this morning on-line. I was happy with the Javier win. He seems like a nice guy and has a great voice. It will be interesting to see if the careers of the other three take off - I hope they do.

I would like to see someone more contemporary than Celine Dion or Patti Labelle. Someone more “indie” would be nice.

Jack White maybe.

Please no washed up rockers like Steven Tyler.

ugh, not Jack White. There’s already three guys, they needed Christine for the woman factor. How about Alanis Morissette or Jewell?

Katy Perry would be a hoot…as would Lady Gaga…

Totally agree about Blake Shelton; had no idea who he was when they first started…

and The Voice has redeemed Adam Levine in my mind; there were a few years there where, well…I’ll keep that to myself…

Christina did have her foot-in-mouth problems during this season, not to mention wardrobe miscues (did you catch her smoothing her dress up over her boobs on the result show–the camera cut away really quick, LOL).

But of all of the judges, she really seemed to work at being an advisor and added lots of value to her mentees on a practical level. Cee Lo saying “Sing from your heart” or Blake saying “Believe in yourself” is nice, but Adam and Christina were the only ones who added production value.

Pay all your judges more! (or steal J-Lo from AI. Actually, judging by how useful she was on AI, I think Sheryl Crow would make a great coach.)

Re post 257: $225,000 AN HOUR or ONLY $75,000 AN HOUR isn’t enough?!!!

I don’t know how much more help Christina was as a mentor though. I agree the video clips we saw made it SEEM that way, but that could be in the choice of videos and editing. Plus, apparently due to the DUI, she had to cancel her concert tour, whereas some of the other judges had to keep concert commitments during the 10 weeks. So, if they want to film her they could do it right on location, rather than having to fly a film crew somewhere. I suspect that’s part of the reason Blake took Xenia and Dia to perform at one of his real concerts. He was probably coaching them while traveling and I think singing to a large live audience helped them on a practical level too.

Playing the game: I think Alicia Keys would be fantastic. (There’s a rumor she was asked before this season and turned it down.)

^I think Alicia Keys would be an excellent choice. I would also like to see Mariah Carey. Nick Cannon, Mariah’s husband, is currently on NBC doing “Americas Got Talent”. That would seem to be a perfect fit from a familial/network standpoint. I agree, it definitely has to be a woman.

Nick Cannon is Mariah Carey’s husband? That guy is a HOOT on AGT!
