Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Have all of the finalists had a recording contract at one point in time, but have been dropped by their labels? In conversations with their mentors, it was mentioned that Bev has put out some albums and Javier has had a past recording contract.

Not sure…but putting out an album isn’t the same as having a recording contract. Javier had a contract and the Meg & Dia band had one. Don’t know about the others.

Jonri looks to be correct. There was a little article on yahoo news about The Voice and what makes it better than AI. They talked about the fact that the finalists are all seasoned pros:

“Of the final four, Dia Frampton was in the Warner Bros. Records duo Meg & Dia, Javier Colon was signed to Capitol Records, and Beverly and Vicci had been gigging and self-releasing music for years.”

So Bev and Vicci look to never having been signed to a major recording contract although they’ve put out albums.

I guess I’m in the minority… by a mile.

I found the whole final show last night to be very disappointing… with the exception of some of the duets. Especially Beverly and Christina… that was beyond amazing. (I was never a big Beverly fan before).

I didn’t care for any of the original numbers - didn’t think any of them showed the performers to their top potential.

So… I don’t really care which one wins at this point. All have strong points.

I loved Vicci and Javier the most up until now. Vicci chooses too hard an edge for too many of her performances, though, to my taste. Dia has a really original style. Beverly wowed me tonight. So… may the best person win; I’ll be okay with it.

Side note: loved the young dancers in CeeLo and Vicci’s duet.

Jmmom, this only shows that different things appeal to different people. As you, I found the entire thing disappointing, but for seemingly different reasons.

Take the Bev duet for instance. People seem to have liked it because it presented a different angle from the (long gone) rocker/screaming act she had shown so far. Granted, she was better than usual, but that does not say much. In the end, you take a great song that fits Aguilera really well, and you end up with a so-so outcome with all that oversinging. Fwiw, even if Bev did better on the duet, this relative (and easy) improvement was quickly erased when she returned to her usual over the top (and pass

^ EXACTLY! GO Dia!

Okay, here we go!

This is me bragging and making all of you jealous:

I have Javier’s autograph from before he became famous :)

Oh yes I can feel the jealousy :)

any rules ?? ie what about west coasters?

loving stevie and javier!!!

West Coasters shouldn’t call up this thread if they don’t want the ending spoiled!

Both duets thus far have been horrible. Super-awk, as my ds2 says.

ETA: p56, you liked them?

yds… i am a stevie nix fan!!! so that may have affected my judgement?

and downloaded honeybee today !! thanks!

Listening to that little speech, I think Christina read her reviews. So sacharine (sp?). EW said she was TEXTING throughout Dia’s performance last night.

I didn’t like first duet. Did like Stevie/Javier.

Dia and Miranda Lambert brought tears to my eyes!

Totally made me tear up. I love the Miranda Lambert song. My kids make fun of how much I like that song. I just think it’s beautiful.

We all knew THAT–it would be Dia and Javier. But which one?

Okay, now we know.

And I’m not a country fan…I am aware of that song though. It’s beautiful!!

Yay…my 2 favorites are 1 and 2!

Javier was so nice while performing with Stevie, I wanted him to be rewarded. Hoping they all get contracts. Well deserved.

Happy here…!!

Happy they were the top two.
