thank goodness for the ff button. Way too much chatting and backstory…and dumb fake arguing between the judges.

DVR’d the show … will not be able to watch until later this week. :(

This is my first season watching this show, and my heart broke when the older Memphis blues singer didn’t get picked. I am a huge blues fan, and thought he was an amazing talent, but probably not what this show is about, but still. All of the judges looked very sheepish trying to explain to him why they didn’t pick him, probably realizing he had more talent in his little finger than them.

^I agree with PackMom and kathiep… the girl with the flower in hair (I believe her name was Lax?) was really marginal and the multi-talented rocker-opera-rapper guy (whose name also escapes me) probably should have gotten a chair turned, even though he was extremely conceited.

I’ve never watched this show before, but last night was channel surfing and came upon it. The girl singing the country western song was so flat-I couldn’t believe none of the judges mentioned that.

Probably won’t watch again.

The multi-faceted singer was SOOO full of himself! I liked the Shield Brothers–they were energetic and made me feel the same, but I’d be surprised to see them go farther in the contest. Coices they are NOT.

The battle duet that I was thinking of from last year was Cee Lo’s first–two great singers competed with each other, with Vicci getting chosen by Cee Lo.

I was not at all impressed with the girl from Hawaii, but they just gushed over her.

I’m disappointed that I watched all the auditions and I’m not excited about rooting for any of them.

Well, the DWTS contestants have been announced, so that can keep us occupied. I hope Martina Navratilova can loosen up more than Monica Seles did. Monica was surprisingly bad…we need a good showing from the tennis world. (Wonder if John MacEnroe would be on the show…)

Can you imagine? He would make Maks look like a pussycat…

ellenmenope, you might as well start the new DWTS thread…now is as good a time as any.

I think they should pair Martina with Maks. If, uh, I mean when he gets out of line, she’ll just kick his *ss.

Here you go http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/1107816-dancing-stars-here-we-go-again.html?highlight=dwts bump this up.

I don’t watch DWTS, so no alternative there for me. ;)

Okay, first… I’m confused whether we’re talking about The Voice here, or over on the “master” AI/X Factor etc. thread. Someone clue me in on this all important issue :).

And now which thread for DWTS… I think I can figure that out.

Anyway, as to The Voice tonight. I spent the whole show not really caring which one of each duo went through. Then we got to Jesse and Anthony and I wanted them both go got through. Badly. Don’t they have one of those rescue things where they can bring one person back? Right now, Anthony’s the one I’d pick for that.

Jesse and Anthony’s duo was electrifying and by far the best performance of the night. Honestly, I was starting to wonder why I was still watching The Voice, after all the mediocrity I’d been witnessing over the last three episodes. Last season definitely seemed populated with more raw talent, IMO. I’ll tune in next week with the hope that things will pick up from here, and there are more great performances waiting in the wings.

In typical fashion, they saved the best for last, as jmmom and poetsheart mentioned above. I’m hoping Anthony will somehow be brought back as a battle round wild card winner and be able to compete in the live shows. For me, Jesse was the standout during the blind auditions and has to be considered the early front runner.

I really like the lineup of advisors to the judges and I think they add a lot to the show.

I wish Jesse and Anthony could be together as one act. They would be definite favorites to win.

I liked most of the judges picks last night, except maybe Adlee and RayLynn - that’s the young country singer and the sorority girl. (Don’t you just love their labeling?) I thought RayLynn had a very weak voice and needs to age a bit before she’s competitive. Agree about Jesse and Anthony. They were well matched. Sort of like those two young dark haired girls last season, Dia Frampton and ??

I couldn’t remember any names but found this [‘The Voice’ Season 2: Battle rounds begin - The TV Column - The Washington Post](http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/tv-column/post/the-voice-season-2-battle-rounds-begin/2012/03/05/gIQAvb9utR_blog.html?tid=pm_entertainment_pop) which helped!

RayLynn??? Really, I could not believe in a million years that fingernails-on-a-chalkboard wimpy whiney teenager singing flat was the winner! What did I not hear? As soon as she started singing, our entire living room winced - is singing in tune just a suggestion?

Very confused. And I was starting to like this show, esp. CeeLo and his cat.

Jesse vs Anthony was such a waste of a great singer…they should both go through. I agree that Jesse has to be the front runner. Just like Javier last year, a gorgeous voice, never sounds strained. The opera-singer-lite guy also has a lovely voice, but he has to force himself into other genres.

My D and I had the same reaction to RayLynn. We didn’t believe there was any way she would stay - really hard to listen to. That choice was made on something other than “The Voice.” Maybe they should do the entire show blindfolded.
