Not crazy about Korin tonight. What’s going on, nobody sounds great to me. Is this terrible song choices by the coaches? They all sounded so fantastic before.
Do you think some/all of the performances are digitally manipulated to sound better/worse to attempt to influence the outcome?
I wonder. Something is seriously wrong today (so far). One thing I noticed with Braiden, he started out really strong and all of a sudden, his volume went down and he started yanking at his earpiece, and sounded much worse. None of them sound near as good as other performances, is there something going on with the sound? Or did they have auto tune on before?
Finally! Jordan sounded great.
Jordan is very impressive.
I didn’t like ANY of my team tonight and thought they all had their worst performances to date, mostly due to poor song choices as many of you noted:
Keith
Korin
Shelby
Braiden
My faves tonight, none of which are on my team:
Ellie
Jeffery
Jordan
Runners up for me:
Viktor
Amy
Blaine
Braiden
Shelby
In trouble:
Regina (Gwen)
Korin (Gwen)
Keith (Adam)
Chance (Adam)
Gwen looked fantastic tonight!
I had a very “meh” reaction to almost everybody tonight — maybe there was something off about the sound. Jordan and Jeffrey were the exceptions. .
My favorites on Adam’s team: Jordan. And I guess I’ll vote to give Blaine and Amy another chance. For Gwen’s team: Jeffrey. Victor and Braiden second and third (though I think both of them kind of murdered their songs.) Korin has an interesting voice but she really needs to develop some stage presence/personality…same for Amy.
Jordan and Jeffrey are the only contestants I would vote for tonight. The rest were meh, or worse in the case of Korina and Chance. Jordan’s last 2 performances gave me chills. I think he could win it all. My biggest concern for him is Adam’s bus attack.
It seems to me the live shows are always worse than the taped version. I don’t know if it’s because the songs at first are chosen by the contestants that they’ve performed before, if the sound system is more tightly controlled during taping vs live, or if it’s just exposing who does and doesn’t have the chops for live performing. And the dreaded song choice. Do the celebs actually pick the song? Do they have the contestants sing through a few before choosing the right song?
Three get cut from each team…which 3 from each do you believe will make it from last night?
I think Blaine deserves to go through, but because he went first, he may be overlooked in the voting. Chance seems to pick songs that are too low for him. I know he has a low voice, but that song sounded like sludging through mud. I was not watching Braden, but listened and it sounded like he was really fighting through.
FWIW, my D who knows a lot about singing (BM in vocal music) thinks Jordan was best. She went online and watched his previous performances and is impressed by how effortlessly he is able to sing those notes.
iTunes downloads as of this morning:
Jordan Smith, Halo, #3
Jeffery Austin, Say You Love Me, #27
Amy Vachal, The Way You Look Tonight, #32
Ex’s and Oh’s, Ellie Lawrence, #47
Braiden Sunshine, Everything I Own, #64
Shelby Brown, You’re No Goo, #71
Chance Pena, Barton Hollow, #83
Viktor Kiraly, All Around The World, #84
Blaine Mitchell, Bever Tear Us Apart, #88
Did you hear the audience applause and cheering after Jordan’s performance? I think he could win it, and I think Adam really does appreciate him, so he may avoid being thrown under the bus. If his voice were not so exceptional, his appearance might hamper him. But it is, so I think he will be fine.
That reaction was a bit of a surprise for me. No one will dispute his talent. For me it was whether his pop genre, and singing diva women’s songs, would be widely accepted and embraced. He just may break Sawyer’s top-10 download ranking after all is sang and done. Adam may also have just gotten a bump in popularity with those that were not fans of his from a coaching perspective.
Amy sang one of my all time favorite Jerome Kern songs–did I hear Adam credit it to Amy Winehouse?!?–and I absolutely loved what she dd with it. She remains my favorite.
Jordan has a wonderful voice, but it’s like listening to a castrati. I can see him having a career singing “inspirational” music.
I looked at the listings, and there really isn’t anyone on Pharrell’s team I want back.
I hope Blake gives Chris Crump another chance, or Nadjah Nicole. But I’m betting it will be Krista.
I think Jordan and Jeffrey have best technique. I fear that some might not make it though the competition with their vocal cords unharmed.
Listening to the covers makes me realize how good the original is on most songs. Still, I think I’ll drop Victor in favor of Ellie…I want to see more of her and I think Victor’s style is too repetitive. And I don’t see him prevailing against Darius in the soul singer category.
I don’t know if any of you had a tween daughter during Glee, but Jordan reminds me of the character on that show who sang women’s power ballads.
I’m hanging onto my team until they’re eliminated, switching costs points.
@eyeamom, as a card-carrying Gleek, are you talking about Alex?
She’s got to be talking about Kurt
Oh, perhaps. I never think of him that way.
Just the voices are so similar.
I’m not saying he’s gay or feminine, only that his voice is very high pitched, and he’s a powerhouse singer. I can’t think of anyone else with that kind of voice, except for Kurt. Could you imagine a duet? That would be amazing.
