Katrina stood out for me tonight. I actually like her look.

Piling on here… Shields Bros. forgot everything they learned in rehearsal. Erin just traded on weirdness. She was surely at her worst and wasn’t the least bit sexy, garter belt notwithstanding. Yuk. Send her home quickly. Bring back any one of the guys who shouldn’t have been sent home before.

I’ve decided I really don’t like this face-off approach. Weak goes against weak and we get a loser. Strong goes against strong and someone who should never have been sent home is gone.

I couldn’t watch more than two of the battles before going to bed. It was a night of weak performances, IMO.

Agree with the above! Erin gives me chills. She’s creepy!

Thought that Erin was horrible. I would rather listen to nails on a chalk board!

Yup, garter belt girl was awkward at best … too bad the boys could carry a tune. Who told her that her weird voice is good music? Yuk.

Looking forward to the male-female duo singing tomorrow…

1st performance tonight was a mess.

Agree - most were weak, but the Journey duet at the end was really good, imo.

Agree - I really like Tony. His Broadway experience really helped him express that song throughout his entire body.

I wanted to dump all the early ones and keep the two guys at the end!

I liked Orlando and Carla pretty much, even though neither was perfect. All the ones before them… blah.

Also disappointed that Justin got matched up against Tony and one of them had to be sent home. Keep hoping there will be some wild card battles and that he will get saved. He’s too good to get sent home this early.

Still think Jesse is the class of the entire field and the one to beat in the remaining weeks.

DH wondered why they would match up two of the best (the last two guys) when they could have been saved by going against the obviously weaker voices. Seems that would have made each judge’s team stronger in the long run.

I often wonder how the judges choose the matchups, too. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to make sense. I’m glad that Tony has gone through to the live rounds (and that we won’t have to look at Christina in that ridiculous ensemble ever again!). I’ve known him for many years and he is so very talented. Although he’s had incredible success in theatre, he’s also focussed equally on his singing career, which really began when he released his first single while stlll in college. He’s had four or five solo albums, had a recording contract for several years, has had #1 songs on the Billboard charts, has written successfully for other artists, much of that before he even moved to NY to pursue theatre.
He is a good example of how very difficult it is, even with incredible talent, to becoming a successful recording artist.

Tony seems like a really good person. He sure has a drop-dead gorgeous wife! I wonder if they share that same color of nail polish?

And the same eyeliner too, jshain?

^^He is, jshain. And, yes, Aspen is beautiful. She’s also a very talented singer and actor and has had a successful career, too. She and Tony met while doing We Will Rock You and they also shared the stage in American Idiot. Any day now, they will become parents! :)

Wow. You know them, alwaysamom? Cool.

So do all of the voice contestants have a history like Tony that they are not sharing yet? I guess I was under the impression that they were totally undiscovered, but maybe that idea is a myth anyway.
