Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I doubt she will move on but Amy’s performance of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love was beautiful.

Maybe Gwen is getting ready for the Star Wars opening next week.

I also loved Amy. Also really like Madi.

Madi was great again tonight as was Amy.

VERY solid performance by Jordan. Excellent range, although its hard for anyone to live up to Freddie. How incredible for him to sing with that wonderful gospel choir! One thing I like about Jordan, besides his awesome voice, is how unflappable he is and his security/confidence in his talent and who he is. Well done.

My 4 favorites are Jordan, Madi, Amy, and Jeffrey.

@jonri I made the same comment to myself about cultural appropriation and cracked myself up. Good one!

@doschicos I just told my H that those were my four choices, too!

Jordan was great. His voice is amazing and his performance with that choir put a smile on my face. And I’m sure one on Freddie’s.

I thought nearly everyone had his/her best performance so far tonight. Or maybe I’m just in a good mood. I really loved Amy. I had been getting kind of bored with her, but she sang one of my favorite songs and did a beautiful job. My choice for the top four are the same as above–Jordan, Amy, Madi and Jeffery–but I don’t see Blake’s team being completely shut out. He has a large fan base, but I guess it’s possible that his having three team members will split his votes.

I’d pick Jordan, Madi, Jeffrey, and Amy, too, but I think Emily Ann will get more votes than Amy or Zach could get more votes than Jeffrey. My H liked Braiden.

Won’t there be a top-5 because of an instant save for the last, 5th spot?

Didn’t have time to post, because I was busy doing Christmas cards. yay me. I thought they were all pretty good tonight. Better than recent shows.

I loved Jordan. Glad he doesn’t go all out every week, but when he does, he does it well.

I liked Madi and Emily. I wish I hadn’t kicked Emily off my team when I did; I want to re-adopt her.

Braden actually did fine … Still needs time to live life and find himself. Maybe be a little bad when he’s 17 and stop trying to please all of us adults.

Zach did much better. Those hip moves make him look desperate and cheap so I’m glad he tossed those this week. I was able to hear some good parts to his voice that gives me hope for him.

Didn’t like Amy … Her soft voice was like sandpaper rubbed very gently to me; too much of the same for too long for the whole song.

Meh on Shelby, Jeffrey. Double meh on Barrett.

H and I decided that Gwen was going for a blond Pocahontas look this week. I loved jshain’s comment about Pharrell’s fatigues.

I think Gwen looks fantastic.

Jordan is going to be the champion.

I agree!

And, dstark, we are almost all in agreement with Jordan winning. He was brilliant. Again. Gave us a new look but it seemed so natural, and effortless, and pitch perfect, with awesome stage presence, and, and…

I am really loving the experience of watching the performances on NBC.com. Headphones, no coaching back stories, no sugar coated coaching comments. I can group the performances the way I want.

Had to do my Indie girl comparison-- Amy versus Madi. For me, not even close this week. Madi by a mile. I actually think Amy took a step backwards this week. Madi is just so much more creative artistically than Amy, IMO. Will there be room for TWO Indie artists in the top-4? I personally don’t think so. If there’s an instant save, then maybe.

Next, the country crooners. Emily Ann just keeps getting more comfortable on stage as her confidence grows. Zach needed a good performance and I think he got it. Barrett could be in trouble.

I really like Jeffery. He, like Madi, takes ANY song and makes it sound marketable on today’s pop charts.

Braiden was good tonight but how many genres does this make? He will have his best iTunes ranking yet but won’t contend. Great job though, Little Mr. Sunshine.

Shelby has great vocals but her musicality is lacking. Her wardrobe handlers are atrocious. She’s in trouble.

My top-4 and perhaps wishful thinking on my part since they are all on my team:

Jordan
Jeffery
Madi
Emily Ann

When was the last season that all 4 coaches still had a horse in the race heading into the finals?

Well, I guess Gwen is appealing to the men with her look as our two CC Voice watching men give her an enthusiastic thumbs up!

I thought that Jordan’s performance might have been the best that I have ever seen on the show. I think he sealed the deal tonight unless he just bombs next week and I don’t think that will happen. Also loved Amy and Emily Ann.

I just don’t get why we’re suddenly going from 9 contestants to 4 (I realize the season is ending, so we need to get to the finals). Why didn’t they eliminate 2 per week? That would’ve gotten us to 4 contestants left, but wouldn’t have left the fate of 5 singers to how they did in a single week, which is where we are now.

I have wondered the same thing @shellfell and I concluded that they must have some data that shows that ratings drop as the number of contestants drop if a fan favorite is eliminated. I may be remembering incorrectly, but it seems like previous seasons did have some shows where two were dropped at a time.

This reviewer nails it on the performances, imo. I hope he’s wrong about who goes home and who goes forward.

The iTunes download rankings, as of this morning, from last night’s performances:

  1. Jordan "Somebody To Love"
  2. Jeffery "Believe"
  3. Emily Ann "9 to 5" 5.Madi "Big Girls Don't Cry"
  4. Amy "To Make You Feel My Love"
  5. Braiden "Amazing Grace"
  6. Zach "The Climb"
  7. Barrett "Ghost"
  8. Shelby "Even God Must Get The Blues"

Glad to see that Braiden slipped on the itunes chart. No way should he stay on in place of Madi or Amy.

Maybe they kept so many contestants for so long because they have a 2-hour time slot to fill. In the past, did they have the contestants sing two or more songs when it got down to fewer left?
