The results were pretty predictable. It is definitely more fun when there is still some mystery involved.
I also noticed Braiden was MIA.
And the show ended with Climb Every Mountain again … Poor guy had to squeeze that song in with all the emotions he was experiencing.
My D said the white outfit was a uni-suit.
I’m glad, and relieved, THE voice this season finally won The Voice. Jordan almost seems like a poster child of why the show was originally created in the first place. He’s also a perfect example of why there’s a blind audition. I hope he proves his doubters wrong and that he and his contractual record label creates something memorable… for a change.
Until next time. Thanks for the much needed diversion.
Doubters? I think everyone agrees that Jordan is pretty sure of success in a certain niche. Whether that particular record company is capable of taking him there is another matter.
I don’t think Jordan has the makings of a current superstar like Justin Bieber, Chris Martin or Taylor Swift. I don’t think he has the “X” factor. It will remain to be seen if he can write and perform original music and connect with his audience on a personal level. His voice is good but I wouldn’t pay to see him perform in concert at this time.
I thought Jordan sealed the deal in the semi-finals when he sang the Freddie Mercury song, but I think Emily Ann will have the more successful career. She reminds me quite a bit of Carrie Underwood when she won AI.
I agree that Emily Ann will probably have the more successful career. Although I guess Jordan could carve out something with Christian or inspirational music. I don’t think you have to be gorgeous to really make it big but I think you usually have to have some kind of “X” factor that peacefulmom mentions. Pavarotti , for instance, was not particularly great looking but he had “charisma” as well as immense talent.
Highlights for me were Usher singing and Ricky Skaggs picking.
Speaking of Ricky Skaggs picking, the first thing my musically talented D said was, “She’s not even playing that mandolin.” Emily Ann’s left hand never moved. She was just strumming dead strings. Could have been playing the washboard and had the same effect.
**I don’t think Jordan has the makings of a current superstar like Justin Bieber, Chris Martin or Taylor Swift.
I don’t think that is necessarily a problem.
Success comes in many forms, and not all of them involve being worshipped by teens or selling out huge arena shows. I would bet Jordan will feel he has achieved success without being an idol.
I agree with jshain that Jordan had the best voice this season. Jordan is more like Josh Groban … he has an awesome voice, but his music is not going to be first on most teens’ song lists!
The fact that Emily Ann is young and cute and perky and sings on-key sometimes and has a decent tone will probably translate into monetary success for her (although I don’t believe she is nearly as good a singer as Carrie Underwood). But this is mostly due to the fact that she is a country artist, and she fits well in that genre.
Totally agree with your post, kelsmom. Just because someone may not be a pop star, doing suggestive videos and dancing around in as a teen idol doesn’t mean they won’t be very successful. Josh Groban has sold a huge number of albums because of his voice, not because he’s a sexy guy. I suspect that Jordan will sell A LOT of music, and that Emily Ann will fade quickly. Young, cute, perky and on key can last for a little, but there’s an awful lot of girls out there with the same assets. True talent is far more rare.
I’m just reminding us that a new season of The Voice starts tomorrow. Anyone think @xiggi will hang with us?
I heard somewhere that Miley Cyrus will be involved? And I gather Gwen will be helping Blake.
Glad the show is coming back. Do not care for Miley, however.
Thanks for the reminder!
So, anyone else watching?
Yea, me.
I’m watching.
I agree, Miley is NOT my favorite either.
So far it’s been fun, if almost kind of “corny” to watch.
The talent is pretty good so far.
That was a fun rendition of “where the boys are”
I loved that! I thought she did a great job.
