Mary Sarah did well tonight. It was probably her best performance, but I think Blake’s country fans will vote for Adam.
I think Hannah is the hidden jewel of this season, and she really sparkled tonight. Alisan got all belty and screamy at the end of Desperado, a song that needs a lighter touch throughout. I wish she’d get some better advice about how to interpret a song. And once again, Mary Sarah was perfect at what she does, though I really can’t bear what she does. Brian was waaay over his head in Hurt, a song only Christina should ever sing. I fear Shalyah is wrecking her voice by attempting such difficult songs at such a young age. She’s probably had no professional guidance about how to use her voice and is really at risk. This sort of thing is why I hate these shows’ allowing such young kids to compete. I feel they aren’t ready in so many ways, and the lack of proper training, the pressure of knowing their families are hoping they’ll bring home fame and fortune, and the disconnect from normal life for the duration of the season all seem like too much for a teenager.
So wait, there were 8 performing tonight left but the finals are next week? How is that happening? I guess I missed how many are being eliminated tomorrow, but this feels so rushed. I don’t seem to recall this structure in prior seasons.
Absolutely loved Adam and Alisan! Thought Alisan gave her best performance of the season. Her power notes didn’t bother me because they didn’t dominate the song and were used to add contrast. Thought she gave a brilliant performance, as did Adam.
Mary Sarah had a really solid performance-- probably her best so far this season.
Hannah growled too much for me personally but she chose a great song and really delivered it. What was with her hair style, though? She looked like she just came in from jogging and didn’t have time to gether hair styled.
Didn’t love Laith’s song choice but thought he did a good job with it. Loved his guitar work, however.
Bryan was really good, for the 2nd week in a row.
I was really disappointed with Shalyah. Were those notes she was singing? Adam has not been a good coach for her.
Hoping Paxton finally goes home.
I am only hearing the performances this soon after the live show on Hulu, without the coaches’ comments. That’s probably a good thing since they are so sugar-coated at this point anyway. Also didn’t hear what Pink had to say. Hoping she performs Tuesday night.
Here are the early Tuesday morning iTunes downloads rankings. With so many potential 10X multipliers, it’s fairly evident who is likely in trouble.
Adam Wakefield, I’m Sorry, #2
Alisan Porter, Desperado, #4
Mary Sarah, I Told You So, #5
Hannah Huston, When A Man Loves A Woman, #6
Bryan Bautista, Hurt, #8
Laith Al-Saadi, One and Only, #13
Shalyah Fearing, And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going, #30
Paxton Ingram, I’d Do Anything For Love, #79
Hannah was fantastic. I also liked Alisan again. Shalyah started out great, but by the end, it sounded like screaming.
I didn’t like Brian as much this week. Laith was relying on his guitar skills again.
I like that Christina was covered up, but did her hairdresser forget to show up?
My only other complaint about the show is the use of fake musicians. Why do they show women with trumpets and violins who clearly aren’t playing them? Mary Sarah’s violinist appeared to be the only “real” musician. I’m even wondering about some of the back-up singers. Laithe sounded like he had an entire choir behind him, but I could only see 8 people on stage with him.
toledo, Yep, musician props and strange sets. Didn’t like what they did with Laith’s background at all.
The iTunes deadline is about 35 minutes from now and Laith moved up to #11. Not that he needs the multiplyer but it would mean 6 out of the 8 semi-finalists in the top-10. I don’t recall a past season that had this many ranked so highly. It was a good week.
toledo, Can you confirm if Laith made it to #10 by the deadline? I think he did just sneak in. This likely means Paxton and Shalyah are going home plus… who else??? Are they eliminating 2, 3, or 4 tonight? Anyone know?
So…anyone watching? Cutting it to 4. 3 who were saved have been announced. 3 will sing for the instant save for the last spot. 2 lowest going home without chance to sing for a save.
Agree with one total “out.” Other one is more iffy. Sing off among #4, 5 and 6 is going to be tough!!!
E egads Mary Sarah was awful…
Thanks jonri. Finally watching Monday’s show on Hulu and Adam said at the top of the show that 8 were going to 4.
Just watching … Yes, Mary Sarah’s voice didn’t work tonight. Bryan was okay. Laith was awesome.
Mary Sarah was way off. I didn’t really like Bryan’s song. I was surprised Laith had to do the sing off. I thought it would be Hannah instead of him. Is next week the last week? when exactly is the finale?
Somehow I missed the show. Are we avoiding spoilers? Just found an online recap, and I am happy about 3 of the 4 finalists. The fourth is a bit of a shocker to me. A better singer was definitely left out. Oh well, it could have been worse.
I think the results were about right.
Don’t understand why Laith even had to do the singoff. Think he should have moved up without doing that.
I was pleased that Laith won the sing off. I am not a fan of Adam Levine’s coaching, but for once I thought he got it exactly right. Laith is not going to be a pop star, but he’s a great musician who has brought something very different to the show.
I just found an article on the iTunes rankings now.
Ranking on iTunes Singles Chart at Close of Voting (Tuesday, Noon ET)
2. Adam Wakefield – “I’m Sorry” (Team Blake)
3. Alisan Porter – “Desperado” (Team Xtina)
5. Mary Sarah – “I Told You So” (Team Blake)
6. Hannah Huston – “When a Man Loves a Woman” (Team Pharrell)
7. Bryan Bautista – “Hurt” (Team Xtina)
10. Laith Al-Saadi – “One and Only” (Team Adam)
27. Shalyah Fearing – “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” (Team Adam)
71. Paxton Ingram – “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” (Team Blake)
Shalya and Paxton were doomed. Laith just barely made it into the Top 10, but we all knew he would win that sing-off. I didn’t even recognize Mary Sarah’s or Bryan’s songs.
This season has been interesting. Each week I have new favorites.
Someone correct me if I’m mistaken but I recall in past seasons that the iTunes rankings, along with the10X multiplyer, are not in play during the finals. Did Adam say anything about this during the results show tonight?
Also, Laith essentially knocked either Bryan or Mary Sarah out of the finals by getting into the top-10 at the last minute. I’m glad he’s in the finals…
I think the correct 4 are moving on. From here , I have no clue. How do you pick the “best” from four such different singers?
I believe the multiplier is still in effect. Here is the fine print:
