And is Christina even looking in the mirror before going out there?! Who is styling her?
And what message is she sending to young women? Show your girls and then you get noticed as an artist? Does The Voice have producers that are a bunch of men from the Play Boy era? Are the women producers supporting them?
Gwen did not dress with her Girls so exposed.
And if you go back to the start of the season, before the live rounds began, she was keeping them safely tucked away. Did she think she would “grab” more votes by unleashing them?
I think that the styling of the female contestants in particular has been pretty dreadful this season. Look at Alisan: half the time she’s in shorts, which is an iffy choice for her legs IMHO, and then she shows up in great grandma’s traditional dress from the old country, with a huge and very weird braid.
But, yes, it has been disappointing to see Christina morphing back into Chestina.
My fave four are Laith, Alison, Adam, and Shalyah, with Laith at #1. Which is interesting to me because I don’t even like his type of music. Or I didn’t, until listening to him. He’s the only one of the bunch I’d pay to see in concert.
Very interesting fellow, Laith.
I’d venture a guess that he’s performed for pay more times than everyone else on the show put together. And yet he doesn’t have that “Boy, I have to get the big time or I’m out of here” attitude. (At least he doesn’t seem to. Maybe his wife gave him an ultimatum and that triggered the voice tryout )
The guy just likes working at what he does. Apart from the appeal of his performances, I like that. The need to do what you do is interesting, in that it varies in people. I’ve always been amazed at how productive Paul McCartney was post-Beatles. Lennon was a bit different. Seemed not to have as high a compulsion to get in the studio and keep creating and performing. McCartney seemingly couldn’t stay away. I’d have been Lennon in that regard, but I have great admiration for McCartney’s work ethic, and I see some of that quality in Laith.
I’m interested in how it all will shake out now.
So, anyone watching? Pretty dramatic drop from 8 to 4.
I’m enjoying tonight’s show. Love Desperadoes loved Laith. Waiting for the musical experts to weigh in.
I missed the first half hour. I came in towards the end of Paxton’s performance, which was his usual thing: big grin and charm, so-so singing. Laith was great, as usual. I think that the Mary Sarah/Bryan duet exposed all of the weaknesses of her voice. She was frequently out of tune on the lower notes. He was flawless. I noted that they gave her about 3 or 4 times as much closeup time as they gave him. I love the song Desperado, and Alysan really gave a fabulous performance. The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt are hard acts to follow. Adam Wakefield is someone whose records I would buy. I left the room during the Hannah Laith duet.
Dang. Bryan nearly made me cry. He is really peaking at the right time, imo.
I love the song Desperado too. Funny thing is that in another thread , Musical Artists you can’t stand, a couple of people were talking about how they can’t stand Desperado. I don’t get it, but , oh well.
What did Bryan sing? I’m watching hockey.
Not over yet, but my top three are Adam, Alisan, and Bryan. The rest are vying for the #4 spot. I’m leaning toward Laith, but will be fair and let the others sing before I decide for sure. Because my decision means so much…lol
I thought Bryan was AMAZING! I also enjoyed Alisan tonight; I usually don’t.
Me 2. But I’ve been a Laith fan since the start
Oh my, Hannah!
Hannah !
Someone needs to seriously intervene in Hannah’s hand waving.
I guess the person I missed up front was Shaylah.
I’m going to vote for Adam, Bryan, Alisan and Laith.
The iTunes downloads currently has Laith at #111 and Shalyah at #129, with none of the others breaking the top-200 yet-- but the downloads just began. We’ll see what it looks like in the morning Pacific Time.
Shalyah had the misfortune of going first. She did well, but I have nearly forgotten about her.
