Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Darby needs to get rid of some of that shaky warble she does. Hopefully in a year or so, she will look back on this and realize that she overdid her unique artist approach and ended up off key. She really does have something, but she got stuck in this weird lane that is not believable.

Watching two of my favorites on the block is not pleasant. Noting that not only is the voting skewing towards those who download iTunes, but only those who use twitter can vote on the saves. Clearly they aren’t going after my demographic, lol.

I lost Darby, no surprise. I think I will be in it to the end with Ali, We’ and Billy. I have 1,028,500. Not a Twitter user either, so missing out on lots of potential points.

No Twitter account for me either, musicmerit. Wonder how many points we lost? I have 1,092,500 points. Guessing it will come down to how well Ali does for you versus how well Sundance and/or Brendan do for me. Glad Ali is still in it. Good sign. Even though it was not the right song choice, she was completely unscathed by it.

Wow, a million+ points for jshain and musicmerit … good job. I am at 825,000 with my two finalists, Billy and We’.

Not liking anything yet so far tonight. The Cher song was a lot of screeching,

I’d like to turn back time and forget I ever heard that.
…I thought Billy was pretty good, though.

I thought Billy was phenomenal tonight. His best performance of the season, IMO.

I still like We, billy and sun dance.

I caught the last few performers. Austin, the first one I heard, sounded awful. Very surprising, because normally he’s so good. I was interested to hear that We HAS had opera training! I thought she’d be interesting there, as I mentioned upthread. Ali was great, as was Brendan. I wish they were both on my team.

I’ll have to rewatch tomorrow morning.

I thought Billy, We’, and Sundance all had personal bests for the season and Courtney and Austin had their worst performances so far. It would not surprise me if both are in the bottom two on Tuesday. I love Ali but didn’t think it was a great song choice for a 2nd week in a row. She sounded like she was straining to hit those big notes tonight.

Will post iTunes rankings in the morning…

I liked Billy, WE, Sundance and Ali. Agree that Austin didn’t sound as good this week. I like Courtney but did not like the Cher song (back then or now).

Here are the iTunes top-200 rankings from Monday, as of 8 AM Pacific:

Sundance, Me and Jesus, #2
Brendan, True Colors, #4
Billy, Anyway, #6
Christian, Million Reasons, #10
We’, God Bless The Child, #14
Ali, Without You, #23
Josh, Real Good Man, #51
Austin, Missing You, #58
Aaron, Rocket Man, #92
Courtney, If I Could Turn Back Time, #175

Wow, what a difference 30 minutes later makes on iTunes. Everyone moved up, the order staying the same:

Sundance, #1
Brendan, #2
Billy, #4
Christian, #7
We’, #10
Ali, #14
Josh, #40
Austin, #43
Aaron, #69
Courtney, #152

Having watched the whole thing with a better speaker, Austin was better than I thought initially. I don’t know what to say about Courtney at all.

I think that Sundance, Brendan, Billy, We, and Ali were all astonishingly good. Not wild about the song choice for my man Aaron: arrangement interesting, but there was that one spot he was weak on in each chorus.

Just loved that bluegrass! “Can we get a real banjo player?”

I think Courtney and Aaron will probably be leaving tonight. Blake could have two in the bottom three with Courtney and Austin. But he also could win the whole thing with Sundance.

For those that haven’t seen the results show tonight, there will be an instant save for one of the bottom 3 and 2 go home. Thank you musicmom for pointing this out. Also, the multiplier for being ranked in the top-10 on iTunes is 5 not 10.

Missed the show. Can you update?

I don’t want to be the “spoil sport”.
