Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

BingeWatcher, I just saw Lauren perform. I actually really liked her tonight, especially on the guitar. She is very laid back, but in such a charming way. I believe that song was previously released by Wynonna Judd. Not sure who else has done it or who wrote it.

She didn’t do a very good job hiding her disgust when Gwen said she was a country Barbie doll!

Well in these competition shows, it’s usually the ultimate insult to be told you look good. It’s like the judges are trying to think of something positive to say when the performance wasn’t very good. That is not the case for Lauren, but I can see where she would take offense to being called a Barbie doll.

Oh, I wasn’t blaming Lauren @musicmom1215 I thought that (1) she had a right to be annoyed when she was called a Barbie doll and (2) it was ironic that Gwen was the one who said it.

I’m an Aliyah fan. She and Brennley have the best combination of talent and performance ease. The tears at the end are interesting. If that happens to the wrong performer, its a big negative. Happening to her, it seemed to be a net positive. Remarkable.

Marks likely gone. His voice quality isn’t in the top five, and his presentation can’t overcome it.

I can’t remember who Brennley was paired against when she lost the head to head and was stolen.

Was she paired against Lauren?

Hunter’s version of Higher Love was great.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed at the constant attribution of Killing Me Softly to Lauryn Hill? ROBERTA FLACK, people!!

I though Vanessa’s performance was great, but don’t like the song. Loved Jesse’s performance, especially when he started to shred on that guitar. More!

Sorry, but Aaliyah didn’t move me. I mean, she’s a sweet kid with a lot of talent, but not ready yet. Brennley is blown away in her category by Lauren, who is just great.

Chris Blue is just the total package. I love Lilli, although it seems that many people don’t get her…

I would like to see Mark go home this week, accompanied by Aaliyah and Brennley, but I doubt it will happen.

Yes, paired against Lauren. Wonder if Alicia is kicking herself for keeping Jack Cassidy and letting Hunter go? I was holding my breath watching Brennley descend that staircase. As if it is not challenging enough for a 15-year-old without stairs.

Here are the current iTunes rankings however PopVortex has not updated since 6:20 AM, so leaders will likely be improving even more:

Hunter, Higher Love, 9
Lauren, Tell Me Why, 10
Brennley, Anyway, 15
Jesse, Jungle Love, 18
Aliyah, Jealous, 20
Chris, 24K Magic, 22
TSoul, At This Moment, 27
Vanessa, Do Wo (That Thing), 89
Mark, Sign of the Times, 96
Lilli, Unforgettable, 134

I haven’t seen Brennley descend the staircase since I haven’t watched that, but I just watched another performance where she was wearing these huge heels. How do you even do that when you’re young, it’s not like you’ve had many years to practice. They must be really stable shoes, because she looks like she’s risking a serious fall.

I am bracing myself to lose 2/3 of my team - Mark and Lilli. Mark is definitely not the most talented, but he must have lots of Twitter fans. Apparently they are called the “Markers”.

Loved Jesse, Hunter and Lauren this week. Chris’ performance was fun to watch but with such limited vocals, it’s hard to rank him too high. I have liked Lilli but that wasn’t a great song choice, and she was ahead of the music for much of the song.

I cringed at Gwen’s comment to Lauren, especially coming from her.

Have never been a fan of TSoul and that didn’t change last night. That song is one of my favourites and no one can come close to Billy Vera for me. I honestly just do not like the tone of TSoul’s voice, I find it grating.

Aliyah and Brennley are around 'til the final, IMO. Lauren would be a great deal more appealing without the distracting nose ring, but I suppose that’s a sign of the times.

I will say that ever since Craig Wayne Boyd won, I’ve realized that others see things differently than I do. He was OK, but didn’t deserve to be the champ. I was lukewarm on Sundance last year too. And I generally like country.

Agreed, but that was around 1973 or so. Some of these kids parents weren’t even born then.

Still not enjoying Hunter. Not worth all the hype IMO.

As of noon Pacific Time

Hunter 9 same as JShain
Lauren 10 same
Brennley 16 down one
Jesse 18 down one
Aliyah 21 up one
Chris 25 up 3
TSoul 27 same
Vanessa 95 down 6
Mark 105 down 9
Lilli 139 down 5

If they eliminate the bottom one, it will probably be Lilli. If they then have an “instant save” between Mark and Vanessa my bets are on Mark. I’m not saying it should be, only that Mark’s supporters seem used to saving him.

Yes, Roberta Flack may be the originator of that song, but Lauryn Hill’s arrangement that she sang (not sure who the arranger was) is what I was comparing Vanessa.

Hey, American Idol is coming back. It will be interesting to see what formula they use: judges, age limits, MC, and audition process.

Agree with the first four who made it through.

Spoiler alert for mechanical process only

Looks like the bottom 3 will be singing for the save.

Vanessa, wow! Not even close.

Agree with the results. YAY!!!

Yes, the Twitterers got it right! But I also thought Lilli had a good night.
