I can assure you that reality TV is not completely real. My D was on a show 10 years ago. They showed her a lot in the snippets they showed of the auditions. They edited it so that her reaction to one question was used for a different question. The first thing they asked her in the audition process was what kind of backstory she had. She didn’t have one. I told her I was sorry I didn’t have a rare disease or our home was never destroyed by an earthquake or something. LOL. I do think the voting was legit, however.
I have to be honest and say that sometimes I get tired of how much time the Voice spends on the backstory.
As usual, I agree with @jshain . Jennifer was definitely too “in your face”, but I’ll bet it was very directed/produced/ That was Miley’s role a few years ago. Now they are toning her down and revving up Jennifer. That said, I like Jennifer when she is softer and more humble. The diva role doesnt suit her.
If I ere a contestant, I’d go for the experience coaches. The last contestant went in wanted C, but ended up choosing J. I just don’t understand.
Girl on now is from a town 10 minutes from me.
It seemed the competition went up a notch tonight. I drafted Keisha and Marharasyi…
Jennifer seems anxious to start coaching. Even though she had some great suggestions, she was getting out of hand.
The standout for me was Ashland Craft. I have only seen the clips of all the performances on NBC.com. Will try to catch it on Hulu later in the morning on Wednesday. I was quite surprised to see I was ranked at #15 (65,500 points) on the leaderboard… usually I’m ranked 999! Of course that will change very quickly from here on out because I don’t have cable or satellite and won’t be able to get bonus points for interactive participation while the show is airing “live”. At least I am now able to tweet!
I also think we west coasters are at a disadvantage because of the time difference. Even though it is filmed in Los Angeles they want to air the afternoon filming during prime time so you folks in all of the other time zones get to see it first and are able to participate in the saves in later rounds.
I will be SHOCKED if Ashland Craft is not the top Voice iTunes performer by Wednesday afternoon. Loved her rendition of You Are My Sunshine. Only wish she had gone with Blake, who probably would have managed her song choices better. It also would have given her the potential shot as performing with Blake in concerts, similar to what Lauren Duski has done. I don’t see Miley not keeping her in the Battle or Knockout Rounds, especially if that’s her only country artist.
I loved Ashland Craft’s version of You are my Sunshine! So far that is the only song I plan on buying. I wish she had gone with Blake but I am liking Miley more than I thought I would.
Welcome hawkbird! Hope you build a team (which is pretty much everyone at this point) and play along.
Current iTunes rankings:
Brooke Simpson, Stone Cold, #128
Ashland Craft, You Are My Sunshine, #136
Both Team Miley. IF they go head-to-head in either the Battle or Knockout Rounds and Miley chooses to keep Brooke and Blake steals Ashland, then I will know that even pairing outcomes are manipulated by the show’s producers.
Correction: the above ranking should be reversed, Ashland first. Now Ashland is ranked #125 and trending upward (better) still.
Yeah…I’m really getting the feeling that this is ridiculously scripted. The former NFL player sang. Then Blake asked from his chair which has to be a considerable distance away 'Is that a superbowl ring?" Absurd.

Yep. Also, Miley loses out on “faux” country artist Keisha at the top of the show Tuesday night and says I will get me a country artist (soon), Blake says his fellow country artists are trying to steal country artists away from him. And then, lol and behold, Miley lands Ashland to end the night. I think they may have edited the show’s real time recording and added Miley and Blake’s comments after Ashland picked Miley. I agree with musicmom-- voting is legit-- but it seems everything else is fair game!
While I love the blind auditions, they do seem formulaic. Seems like every season we get someone who is related to a famous person (Kaley Cuoco’s sister, Candace Cameron’s daughter, Shirley Jones’ grandson), someone who was turned down in a previous system, numerous people with tear jerking health challenges or whose parents have health challenges, etc. I also know by now that the last person of the evening on night 1 is going to be a four chair turn and each other evening will have someone really good closing the show. I did love Ashland last night!
Anyone else notice that both Adam and the 17-yr-old folksinger’s family member referred to her as an “old soul”?
Anyone watching? Noah is amazing.
I’m glad Noah chose Blake
Ack I fell asleep!
Jennifer is getting really annoying. Maybe its time to go back to sleep.
I liked the “rockers” last night.
I miss Alicia.
