Me too @bookworm, I hope she tours with Blake.
Lauren is my #1 too. I think she has a really good shot to do well. Can someone tell me how past winners of the voice are doing?
Here you go, showmom:

Reminder! New season 13 premiere begins Monday 9/25 and Tuesday 9/26. Tune in live, or set your DVRs, and don’t forget to register on NBC.com/the voice. If you were previously registered, you still have to download the new app. Hope you’ll play along. Register today and you’ll earn 500 bonus points! See you on Monday (except for me it’ll be a day later since I watch on Hulu). “New” coaches joining Adam and Blake this season are Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus.
Thanks for the reminder, jshain!
One more reminder: Voice premier new season starts tonight!
Blind auditions are my favorite part:)
Anyone watching?
I enjoyed most contestants tonight because of their unique styles and song choices. Unfortunately, no one really stood out for me. Jennifer appears to be a really aggressive coach, unlike Alicia.
I liked the first guy and the last girl. The ones in the middle were okay, except for the 15 year old girl. She didn’t sound bad, but she made my throat hurt!
Agree with musicmom about first and last, Chris and Brooke. For me though the one who stole the show on opening night was 4-year-old Claire Crosby. I also hope Lucas goes far. He could be a huge surprise. I thought some of the back stories on opening night were interesting. If you play along, you can now put 12 on your team!
I have seen Claire and her dad on the internet and I think she is adorable!
Brooke Simpson’s blind audition singing Stone Cold is in the iTunes top-200, currently at #170. No one else in the top-200 at this time.
Not super engaged with the first night’s contestants. I understand that its an entertainment show rather than a true open competition, but there has always been a little “queen-for-a-day” who’s- the-most-downtrodden aspect to the contestants, and I think I’m seeing that amplified further based on the first night. A little goes a long way.
I might decide over time that I like the kid from Lansing. We’ll see. Some contestants grow on you over time.
It also seems as though the producers have decided to attempt to modify the interplay between the judges, which is something I generally have enjoyed in the past. My jury is out on whether I’m going to be engaged much by more of what I saw last night.
It is, however, only the first night. I’ll be watching tonight.
Never got any goosebumps. While I like Miley and Jennifer. I don’t think both should be on the same time.
I’ve always liked Jennifer Hudson. After last night…not so much. I hope she tones it down a bit.
This made me LOL! Actually, there IS a queen on the show this season and for a lot more than just one day…
J h was far too aggressive. I hope the others talk to her.
That wasn’t my thought in the comment, but I know what you mean. You likely aren’t old enough to remember Ed Bailey and queen for a day, but the idea was to have needy housewives compete for audience empathy with hard luck stories and the winner was chosen by an applause meter. There are probably some old episodes on YouTube.
I’m hoping for a couple of cool contestants tonight. I agree with the reactions to Jennifer Hudson, but it’s hard to put my finger on the reason. It may simply be that she isn’t very mellow in her persona the first night. Let’s give her a chance though. Being a performer is different than what’s asked of the judges. The transition might take a few episodes.
I hope JHud will dial it down a bit for the remainder of the Blinds. Hard to know how much was really her and how much was “producer involvement”. On the latter, producers probably came up with the Adam and Blake “play nice” moments. Putting Chris Weaver in the opening slot, whose shoe throwing path had crossed with JHud in the past, leads me to believe that it was scripted. And let’s not forget Chris Blue, last season’s winner who got a chair turn from Alicia, the only coach with a spot remaining, in the final week of the Blinds. What if Alicia had filled her final spot in the audition just before his?
