Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Actually, the last four days in France, one of my sweet dogs fell ill, had to go to an emergency hospital and then died after we came back, so I’m thinking just about anything (including work), will top that. :o3

Oh no, @busdriver11 ! I am SO sorry to hear that. Their only flaw is that they don’t live long enough. :frowning:

I am so sorry, bus. Heartbreaking.

Thank you. I’ve never lost a dog before and we are completely traumatized. I don’t know how I’ll ever feel happy again, but I’m hopeful. Until then, distractions, and when I get home there are a lot of the Voice episodes to watch!

Oh nooooo, @busdriver11 – one of the cavaliers?? Sooo sorry :frowning:

Yes, jym, the Blenheim on the left in the picture. I know you understand how it feels. We are determined to never get another dog and go through this again.

@busdriver11 So sorry about your beloved pet. My Springer of 13+ year’s passed away this Spring and I still miss him. Dogs are amazing companions.

Thanks, snowflake, and I’m also sorry about your dear Springer.

But I don’t want to derail this thread, so what do you guys think, how does this season compare to others? Is it worth going through all the ones I recorded, or will I be sorely disappointed? Should I wait until American Idol, or take the plunge?

busdriver11, Here’s my take on Season 13:

Good depth of male R&B/Soul talent: Chris, Davon, and Jon the top-3 with Davon the best of the best-- IMO.

Country talent not as good as last season although I love Ashland. Also, I like Megan and Addison, the latter being a crossover pop/country artist.

Miley has a very strong all-girls team with Brooke and Karli in the mix in addition to Ashland and Addison mentioned already above.

Jennifer has 2 top male R&B singers in Davon, Chris plus Jon (team Adam) but Ignatious, not mentioned yet, is also very talented.

For me, Miley and Jennifer have the strongest teams, followed by Adam and then Blake.

Look for Miley to have some of her losing ladies stolen in the Battle Round by Adam and Blake.

There are others not mentioned that could emerge, both on my team and not, this is a somewhat incomplete analysis!

Thanks, jshain! It sounds like there are a number of very good singers. I’m not crazy about country, so I don’t mind that the country talent isn’t that strong.

I’m so enjoying the battle rounds. More impressed than at the initials

Jaheim, I think you have a crystal ball

How do you remember all their names??? And I agree— good battle rounds tonight.

I didn’t lose any of my team tonight. I was surprised that Sophia wasn’t stolen.

musicmom1215, I had 5 of my 12 Battle on Monday night that all also survived. Noah, one of my bottom 4 (B4) members, was stolen. It should be pointed out that he was America’s choice, edging out Keisha (who I also have in my B4).

Loved Keisha and Noah’s, Chris and Kathrina’s, and Adam P. and Whitney’s battles. All 3 seemed more collaborative than combative.

My “little rocker” Moriah survived but I thought she fell off from her blind audition-- mostly due to song choice.

Whitney was the most improved, imo, from her blind audition. I could definitely see her as a country crossover artist.

In Whitney, Miley just added one more solid team member so I think she, Addison, Ashland, Karli, or Megan Rose (combination of 2 total IF they lose) get stolen in tonight’s or next week’s battle or knockout round in 2 weeks. If Miley continues with her all-female team strategy, and every indication is leading that way so far, it will be lowering the chances for one of the solid guys of making it to the live shows now that there are essentially only 3 and not 4 coaches interested in them.

Keisha and Noah, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, #160 but still trending upward, the only iTunes top-200 performance so far from Monday. I will be surprised if Adam P. and Whitney are not in the top-200 later today.

Let’s list our teams on Wednesday morning, if you are playing along or if you just have an opinion, showing your Top-8 and Bottom-4. Good luck!

I do not have Keisha on my team, but I have had Noah since his blind audition. I think he has the IT factor. I thought Keisha won the battle, but I’m glad Noah was stolen. I do not think Keisha has a country voice at all.

I may be in the minority, but Kathrina’s voice is not pleasant to my ears.

I did not care for many of the battles last night. I think the singers are weaker than in some past years. Of course, the beauty is that some will really grow … that is what keeps me coming back to hear more.

I absolutely do not get the appeal of Adam. Whitney was much better, IMHO. Glad she was stolen. Given the growth Sophia has shown so quickly, I can’t believe no one stole her.

I know my aversion to people who yell puts me at odds with the American public. I like Brooke’s voice - give me a smooth tone any day of the week.

kelsmom, I completely agree with you about Brooke. Those full rounded and rich notes, as well as her range and musicality, makes her the most talented and technical singer (imo) of this season. I hope she gets the votes once the show goes live, either on Miley’s team or whatever coach ultimately steals her.

Edit: Her biggest growth will likely come with her styling and wardrobe in the coming weeks.
