Me too.
Thanks for the Joni Mitchell flashback, @jshain. 1970. I was almost out of HS. Joining you in the old fogeys club.
Does anyone have Addison AND Chloe in their top-3, that is on the Voice App? I currently have 1,817,000 points which, according to my (rough) calculations puts me in 3rd place.
I am at 2,000,100 with Shi’Ann and Ashland (both 64 days) and Brooke (65 days). I follow Brooke on Facebook and she is getting strong support from the Native community. The Canadians are complaining that they cannot vote. I did not know voting is limited to the US.
I really love Addison and Chloe. They would be on my team if I did not go with the day count when it was time to lock in.
Pentatonix will be on NBC again tonight for the Rockefeller Center tree lighting special at 8 PM. Their special on Monday was okay. I would prefer just to hear them sing and not do goofy skits.
Oh how I yearn to be in the 2 million club!
I only have 1,754,500 points. I do not have Chloe or Addison on my team. Like musicmerit, I went with the longest day counts and have Ashland (65), Brooke (65), and Noah (56) on my team.
I finally summoned up the will to catch up. Random thoughts:
I’m not surprised Jon lost the elimination sad though I am. FAR from his best performance. I really feel that he and Emily were sandbagged by having their earlier performances skipped. People didn’t have the chance to get to know them and be vested in them.
Janice’s song choices and performances are not thrilling me. Even with The Story, a wonderful song, her performance is excessively harsh. Her elimination performance was extremely unappealing, while Adams was probably his best on the show so far.
I guess it must have been my imagination that Shi-ann was incredibly off-key/pitchy on the Dreamgirls song, because people thought it was great. I do love the tone of her voice, though.
Consolation, I just treated myself to some high-end Bose noise canceling headphones (early Hanukkah present) and replayed Shi’Ann’s performance this week, thinking my previous ear buds were making her sound worse than she really was. She sounded even worse with my new headphones. She sounded really awful. To her defense, she sounded better on her iTunes teaser that was remastered than her performance on NBC.com.
Edit: Janice led off the show this week. That didn’t help her, IMO.
@Consolation , in post #5638 I said that I thought ShiAnn was horrible and that there must be something wrong with my ears since everyone thought she was great. She seems like a sweet girl but I don’t like anything about her voice.
About Janice, you said, “…her performance is excessively harsh.” Yes, that is the description that eluded me. harsh.
Here are tonight’s performances by team:
Adam
Adam- Maybe It Was Memphis
Addison- Lucky
Blake
Chloe- Call Me
Keisha- All By Myself
Red- That’s What I Love About Sunday
Miley
Ashland- I Hate Myself For Loving You
Brooke- Amazing Grace
Jennifer
Davon- Hurt
Noah- Ordinary World
Shi’Ann- Diamonds
After hearing ONLY the iTunes teasers: Shi’Ann sounded much better and had a better song choice for her voice than last week, imho. Keisha performed a pop song. Will it be a blessing or a curse for her this week? Both Addison and Chloe sounded really good— again. Red and Davon may have fallen off slightly from last week. Think Noah, Brooke, Adam, Keisha, and Ashland all improved from what I heard.
As usual, I’m jumping into this thread now that DWTS is over.
Davon … amazing, interesting, don’t know that I’d want to hear him in big doses.
Adam … bad
I really like Davon too.
Funny thing— when the Google mini and Google home commercial came on, each time Eric McCormack and Jennifer Hudson said “hey google…” my new mini turned on and responded!
That Blake and Gwen song was the worst of the night so far.
^^^^^^Agreed
I haven’t liked anyone I’ve heard tonight, though I don’t know if I could call one particularly worse than the other. Davon, Adam, Chloe…not crazy about her singing in such a low voice. What am I missing? Must be this hotel television sound system. Blake and Gwen…he sounded okay, but I just tuned them out, so I guess I wasn’t impressed.
It was terrible. I left to go find a snack.
I didn’t pay close attention either but I thought Chloe, Shi’Ann and Noah were interesting.
I’ve liked everyone tonight, including Blake and Gwen.
LOVED KEISHA, especially the last part of that song. Changing it up made it interesting.
I did think Keisha sounded good.
I’m listening to Ashland, thinking…ugh. Maybe it’s me tonight, just not feeling it.
Edit to add, I don’t want to see Miley’s tongue. EVER :-S
Is there a vomit icon?
I liked Ashland OK, but it still fell a little flat. I wish she had changed it up more. I love that song so was predisposed to like it already. Left not loving it. Keisha was OK.
