New format changes this season. I wish they would go back to the old, original format. These twists are confusing my pea-sized brain:
Along with the elimination of FOUR Tuesday episodes, season 16 has some tweaks and twists. For instance, there will NOT be a Knockout Round. After the Battles, a LIVE round called “Cross Battles” will start. (The live Finals may be cut back as a result.)
New format details are found in the “How to Play” section of the newly available The Voice season 16 phone app. It’s available for download now.
Here’s some of the blurb:
“During the Blind Auditions, Battles and live Cross Battles you can add remove or swap artists by tapping the Your Team section found under the menu in the upper corner of your app screen.
Your Team will consist of 12 artists for the Blind Auditions and Battles. On Wednesday April 10th at 12 p.m. PT your team size will be reduced to a total of 8 artists. After the live Cross Battles and Top 24 results, on Wednesday May 1st at 12 p.m. PT, your team size will be further reduced to 3 total artists for the remainder of the season.”
I don’t think I’m going to play along with the app this year. Since I don’t tweet, there’s no chance of winning, and last year I found it a little distracting. Actually very distracting. I’m rooting for you, @jshain !
Let’s add our own category this season: top-3 and day counts. The tiebreaker, if needed, could be the 4th spot, etc… If that had been in last season, I would have scored a big fat zero.
I don’t tweet either so I am aiming for second place. I had just noticed the voice app icon looked different so my phone must have downloaded the new version automatically. I opened it and there’s no request to log in again so hopefully it’s ready to go. Last time I spent the first show trying to log into the app and/or NBC.
Just another reminder to tune in to The Voice tonight. This season (not necessarily this week) includes a TRIO known as The Bundys. There’s also a South African girl named Selkii, and a Country guy named Dexter Roberts. Check them all out on YouTube. I just watched 48 Voice Season 16 artists on YouTube and there were a bunch of others that also stood out to me.
I have 26,500 points for playing along with the app, adding everyone to my team, but no tweeting. Now I have to remember who I added just to fill a spot and get points, and who I really want to keep when better singers come along.
We were laughing out loud at the tweeting on a typewriter conversation. I thought the blocks on John were very strategic, but like he said, he has blocks too. I really like Maelyn and her story.
I prayed to the Voice Gods to eliminate the Comeback Stage but it didn’t help. Management decided it wasn’t their idea that was bad, it was that they just needed a coaching change.
I love Maelyn. Liked her on YouTube, but loved her last night. I loved Rizzi on YouTube but “only” really liked her last night. She seemed younger on YT, probably because she was. Going to try to keep an Indie artist on my team, LiLi for now (note she has a 2nd upper case L in her name) but have my eyes and ears on Ava and Celia when their auditions come around.
“Maelyn doesn’t hear music the way most people do. She’s deaf in one ear due to childhood ear infections. She considers the deafness a ‘superpower’ that helps her stay in tune (like a permanent finger on the ear)”.
Liked everyone except Klea (who got the Comeback against Nathan and Chesi, the duo from night 1) on night 2 of the Blinds.
I added Domenic and Julian, then replaced Mohawk girl Lisa Ramey with Country girl Hannah, but only AFTER the App points were tabulated. I wanted to get a 2-day credit on Lisa, to try to sneak into the top of the leaderboard and it seems to have worked— but just for this week.
