Beginning tonight, the show will air on M and T. Next week there’s a new twist, called the Live Cross Battles. More on that later…
This was not a good night if you are a Voice fan. Glad David got the Comeback.
So, here’s a very rough draft on the Live Cross Battles beginning next week:
Instead of intra-squad Knockouts, each artist will compete against someone from a different team— on Monday 4/15 and 4/22. These Live Cross Battles replace what previously was referred to as the Knockouts.There will be a Live Vote (overnight) to determine the winner of each cross battle. Results will be announced on Tuesday 4/16 and 4/23. I am not sure how, or even if, coach steals and/or saves will be part of this new format but I would think at least saves would still somehow be in effect. Viewers will evidently have more power to choose who goes to the Live Shows. I am unclear as to whether each team will somehow have the same number of teammates once the Live across Battles Round is completed, but I tend to think not.

I’m still out of the top 999 with 956,000 points. I’m thinking I may move up after this next cut since my top 8 is all 36 to 43 days. However I’m not really sure if I believe I even have the top contenders on my team.
eyemamom, This is a very strange season without question! I took a big gamble on 14-year-old Mikaela and she got eliminated in the Battles but then wasn’t even stolen. Rizzi dealt a similar fate. Ciera and Savannah, and now David, must climb their way back via the Comeback Stage when there are less talented vocalists moving on (imo).
After tonight’s final Battles, the Live Cross Battles begin in lieu of the Knockout Round!
Live Monday Tuesday over the course of 2 weeks. Monday will have 8 cross battles, the winner is chosen from overnight voting and revealed on Tuesday’s show. Each coach will have 10 seconds to use their save or steal.

On the Tuesday results shows, host Carson Daly will reveal the winner of each Cross Battle, and 16 artists will advance to the next round through America’s vote. For the first time ever, each coach will also have the opportunity to save or steal eliminated artists live in the moment. The coaches will have one save and one steal to use over the course of the Cross Battles, and they will only have ten seconds to decide if they want to push their button to save or steal an artist.
In another Voice first, coaches may enter the Top 24 live show with an uneven number of artists on their team, further adding to the drama and competition.
The Live Cross Battles Round begins on Monday, April 15 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) and continue on Tuesday, April 16 (8-9 p.m. ET/PT), Monday, April 22 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) and Tuesday, April 23 (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) in NBC.
Viewers can vote using App Voting and Online Voting during the April 15, 2019 and April 22, 2019. Voting opens at the end of the ET/CT broadcast on The Voice Official App (App Store or Google Play) and at Vote - The Voice. (No studio recordings until the Playoffs.

As someone who watches not only the US version of The Voice, but many international versions, I have to say that I rarely find a change, which is never consistent across versions, to be good or that enhances the viewing experience. The Cross Battle was used on the Voice of Holland a few years back, but mercifully dumped after one season.

Didn’t lose anyone tonight. I only have 1 in my Top-8 from Team Blake, however. I think this new Cross Battle format will be a bigger advantage for popular coaches— which is everyone BUT Adam— and Blake in particular, imo.

eyemamom, I have read when they did it in other countries they would kind of go strength to strength and weaker to weaker, especially when saves and steals were involved (1 of each per coach). Looking forward to seeing the pairings!

I am making myself dizzy going back and forth between The Voice and AI. Wish they weren’t on simultaneously, but guess they did it for a reason.
