So, I just looked at the voting. The voting is basically the same as the Live Shows. You can give up to 10 votes to any of the artists, including those going head-to-head.
Just watched the show. I do NOT like the Cross Battles in lieu of the Knockouts and here’s why:
I feel the NEUTRAL coach (the coach that does not have a teammate in a particular battle) has too much control in the voting outcome. Example: Dexter (Team Blake) versus Andrew J. (Team Adam). Neutral coach John Legend picked Andrew J. as the winner. It was a very even battle but John Legend sways the votes when he said he would pick Andrew J. If it were still the Knockouts, the coach makes the final decision regardless of what the other coaches say. I think Dexter loses to Andrew J. because neutral coach Legend chose underdog Andrew. If Andrew truly was better than Dexter, let the voters vote without John’s influence. Earlier, neutral coach John Legend chose Mari (Team Adam) over Selkii (Team Blake). I think Selkii, at the very least, loses votes because of John choosing Mari as the winner and, at the very worst, she loses to Mari due to the neutral coach declaring who they think is the winner. Where the inconsistency and “unfairness” comes into play is when both neutral coaches abstain from choosing a winner, as in the last Cross Battle between Maelyn and Rod when most of the other battles had a neutral coach weighing in on who they thought won.
I would like to see the Knockouts reinstated as well as the iTunes charting throughout the entire season.
I don’t know how much the neutral coach really influences. By the time the voting window opened I didn’t even remember who battled who. Especially since the voting was not set up in pairs. You just vote for the individuals you like.
I get why other countries dropped this. It would have made more sense to vote the winner of each pairing. So if a pairing gets the two most votes individually, number 2 is still going home.

It looks like my neutral coach theory was null and void. Instead, the Cross Battle results did appear to be a popularity contest for the coaches with Adam taking the biggest hit.
It seemed strategic how the order tonight influenced who stayed. The earlier ones got saved and stolen.
I only lost one tonight. I got some points today and am in the 300s now with 1,442,000 points.
As I am typing they are updating points again. Now I have 1,619,000 points. But the ranking is not updated. I closed the app and reopened it. I am in the 400s now.
I’m at 1,583,300 and am in the 800s. Yay me!! Lol. It was weird that we weren’t tweeting or answering questions this week.
My team is still intact.
I really don’t care for this round. The judges have no idea if they need their saves so it seems like they all just burned through them tonight.

Anyone watching Cross Battles 2 tonight?
I watched tonight. I thought there were some good performances and good song choices. Enjoyed it.
I watch tonight. I liked Shawn Sounds and Gyth a lot.
I have only watched the YouTube clips. I have not seen the coach’s comments, which coaches gave opposing teams standing ovations, etc. I thought LB won his Cross Battle against Jej. I also thought Karly had her best performance of the season. Andrew S. sounded really good but looked completely awkward and lost without his guitar. I also really liked Rebecca Howell and Beth. I did not like Gyth or Jej, both in my top-3, as well as I had hoped.
You don’t miss much not hearing the comments. I was disappointed Jake and Carter went against each other. They’re both on my team. I haven’t figured out my top 3 besides Maelyn.
I enjoyed Carter with “Way Down We Go.” Also, Shawn, Rebecca, and Beth.
Climbing the charts here. I’ve 1,820,000 points and I am 640 now. The highest I’ve made it. The real test will be the top 3.
1,866,500 (273). My tweets have given me an unfair advantage, but it’s legal. No tweets this week. I’m chairing our 50th HS reunion committee to be held Fall 2020.
I am in the 400s with 1,841,500 points. I have Gyth, Maelyn and Matthew in my top 3 but not definitely keeping them there. We’ll see what happens in the next 8 days.
