Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I don’t usually watch AGT, either, but I did last night. I sobbed (ugly cry!) through most of Archie’s performance. His story is very moving, but I think the emotion he put into that song would have been moving even without the backstory.

I just watched the recorded finale. I think I am in love with Kelly after her new single which she sung in 6 languages. Amazing song, amazing singer.

As for the winner, quite disappointing. I think Blake’s fans/country people will always vote for his contestant or country singer… The rest has to split the votes. It’s a shame but oh well, life goes on.

The Voice returns for Season 19 on Monday, October 19 at 8/7c on NBC.

Reminder! New season of The Voice starts Monday 10/19.

I am so glad the new season has started! I am not playing along on the app. It’s just too distracting for my little brain.

I was not really blown away by anyone tonight. I did like the opera guy who sang “Misty” and I liked the first girl okay.

I didn’t understand the love for the 16 year-old farm girl or for the country guy who lived in his motor home.

The coaches want to make a show of how good they are, so Fawn over contestants, at least initially. Gwen was in good form, I thought.

Musicmom, The 16-year-old farm girl, Lauren Frihauf, only had 37% of those playing along on the App turn for her. So, you’re not alone. The highest percentage of ‘home turns’ that anyone received was 3rd generation preacher Jim Ranger, who got 83%. John Holiday, who closed the show, only received 77% turns from those playing at home.

I agree… not one of NBC’s better Voice premieres.

DD knows the first and last singers. Opera is a small world ?. So we are watching with interest.

@Singersmom07 Does your D know tonight’s opera singer. He is handsome! He was my favorite tonight. I liked the last guy, too. The rest were just ok.

Ack I missed yesterday - but watched today!

@musicmom1215 no she does not. He does not seem to have been in the opera world so much as he is classically trained. Pop genera shows usually call anyone with a classical or classically trained voice an opera singer. None of her extended opera friends know him either.

When the background clip showed him singing all around the world, I immediately thought cruise ship, but I don’t know for sure. I personally prefer classically trained singers. Some of the contestants, especially Monday night, seem to be singing from the wrong part of their mouths or throats or something. I am not an expert and have no singing ability at all, but my D is classically trained and I have learned a lot from her.

In the Philippines, Ryan was apparently in a singing competition where he mostly sang pop ballads. If you check him out on his YouTube page, he sings pop songs. I would like him so much more if he just stayed in his ‘opera lane’. It confuses me because I don’t really know what kind of an artist he wants to be.

His Battle performance should be interesting because it will most likely NOT be a duet from an opera that Kelly chooses.

Rio- that was beautiful ! The Smoky Robinson song was fabulous.

I really liked the country guy. He could really pull in the Blake fan votes. I also like Rio.
For some reason, the female singers this season just aren’t making an impression on me.

The BLOCKS this season are not getting used very strategically, IMO.

I was surprised when John knew Desz was the last singer of the night. I thought they taped a whole bunch of Blinds at one time and then shuffled the order afterwards?

If I never see another trivia question on the App, it will be too soon.

I believe they do. But someone is still the last audition of the day. The producers probably guessed it would be a 4 chair turn and scheduled accordingly.

Gwen and Blake just announced their engagement on Instagram.

Only one show this week. Anybody watching? I liked the tall guy who sang the Jim Croce song. When I was in high school, I would come home from school every day and take a nap while listening to my Jim Croce 8-track!

I liked James Pyle, who was the last artist to get selected by John, and the last coach to fill his team.

John Sullivan, the 6’ 7” baseball player, was just mediocre for me.

Thought Worth The Wait wasn’t… Worst 4-chair turn of the season, IMO.

Musicmerit, call ‘home’— I’m missing your presence.
