It seemed to me that last year it was easier to pick out a few “gonna be a contender” voices early in the season.

I really hope this year there are several voices that really “grow” during the contest.

It is also interesting to me how little if anything there is to miss from the change in judges. Although last night’s preview of next week indicates Usher can crack the whip.

Popped in to see if anyone noticed Savannah Berry who goes to my church. I don’t actually know her (we have a large rotation of very talented singers and it’s a very large church), but my son immediately recognized her. I’m happy to see that NJRes has already mentioned her.

Our pastor has already started tweeting and posting on FB to support her :-). It will be fun to actually have a “horse in the race” this season!

I thought I was going to die laughing when Shakira bent up her leg to mimic Usher. I hope Christina never comes back–I love her voice, but she added nothing the show. (Ceelo can say away, too.) Idol can’t hope to compete with the higher level of talent and sparkling judges panel on this show.

AllThisIsNewToMe, Always exciting when there is a personal connection to one of the singers. My S is a Cal frat brother of Kyle Crews, who was on American Idol last year. He didn’t go far in the competition but it was fun seeing him for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, we will see Savannah longer. The “other” famous Cal alum on AI (also a MechE major like my son)? William Hung.

I’m really enjoying this season. I liked the duo Adam chose. Maybe there is more they see in the rehearsals. I also think they look for more original acts.

I was shocked Adam didn’t pick Patrick Dodd and even more shocked that he didn’t warrant a steal from one of the other judges. I trust that Adam knows what he’s doing in further developing this duo.

Definitely agree with this, but I thought duo seemed much more comfortable on stage. It seemed like Patrick was trying a little too hard. Pitting a duo against a single artist just doesn’t seem fair to begin with.

I didn’t see the first 20-30 minutes of the show last night, but I must say that the girl singing with Mary was Not A Nice Person. She has the mean girl persona down pat. Did she really think that Shakira didn’t realize that it was Mary who was screwing up in the rehearsal? And Usher saved her, and not Patrick? Big mistake.

Sarah is a singer with a very impressive bag of tricks, all right. I can foresee an all-Adam finale with her and Judith as a real possibility.

Depending how the order of the performances actually went (as opposed to how it airs), it could be that Usher just waited too long to use his last save - and then there he was at the last singer - who was not “all that”.

I really hope Usher and Shakira will stick around. I wonder what the contracts of Christina and Cee Lo involve and what is going to happen about them coming back.Anybody know?
