Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I guess with each of 4 teams eventually going to have 12 members these blind auditions will go on for a while. Still haven’t seen Savannah Berry. I personally was not as enthusiastic about last night’s talent as the judges appeared to be, but I remain extremely impressed with the judges.

In similar fashion to Monday night, Adam, again, snagged the very best singer on Tuesday with last performer Sarah. Now he has both Judith and Sarah, an incredible one-two punch.

Savannah Berry was awesome!!! :)

I think Usher is so impressive, so honest, and Shakira look and acts so natural. Will be a good season.

I thought so too NJres. She’s even got a great singer’s name.
The Voice is so much better than AI.
It’s worth watching just to hear the coaches’ banter back and forth.
So funny when Blake pulled his “trophy” out at the end.

Romani, has your friend been on yet?

Can not wait to hear Savannah Berry out here on the West Coast. I thought Monday night’s show was fantastic-- one of the best so far. Great talent (including several who didn’t make it through), some surprise judge/mentor picks by the singers, and absolutely love Shakira and Usher as others have said!

So I’m trying to understand how almost every single contestant on The Voice, even the ones who get no chair turns, is more talented than every single singer on American Idol. The upper age limit of Idol accounts for some of the disparity, but not all. Is it because Idol will often go for the human interest story more than talent (I’m talking about you, Lazaro)? All I know is that the singers I listen to on Wednesday sound really lame after the ones I’ve heard on Monday and Tuesday.

Really enjoying this season. Surprised and impressed by the talent and the chemistry/rapport between the judges.

American Idol is so horrible now. I don’t know why I still watch it.

Liked Savannah, loved Patrick-- the 35-year-old from Memphis who won Beale St. entertainer of the year. Coach Adam seems to have landed yet another early contender.

I think most of the singers sound better due to the “softer” emphasis on the background accompanyment, that really showcases the voices, rather than a larger and spashier performance. I also think it helps to have singers RECRUITED on The Voice rather than staging open auditions (for the most part) on American Idol. The producers can come up with the right mix of genres, voices, styles, etc.

The biggest difference I like about The Voice compared to Idol, however, is the blind auditions with everyone talented versus the open auditions with a mix of talent. Those early weeks of Idol can get very tiresome in a hurry.

American Idol is kind of like family. Don’t always like them, but they’ve been around forever and part of our lives so we keep attached. I know pretty much what to expect from AI and what not to expect, so I don’t ask for more.

The Voice is different - and why it can exist along with American Idol. Thanks to DVR, you can tape them and have 5-6 hours of tv a week narrowed down to 4-6. :)

When you look at all the singers/entertainers that have been involved with both of these shows over the years (from Paula Abdul/Ellen Degeneres/Keith Urban , Christina A/Usher/Adam Levine- for example) it’s also kind of cool that it appears to be “cool” for these already arrived celebs to take a year or two and do these shows. A fun little extra on your resume. :)

I also am really enjoying this season of The Voice. The singing is great . Also love the addition of Usher and Shakira. The judges are all very real and cool together. I did like CeeLo but he could get a little strange at times. These judges just seem to flow more naturally together.

The contestants on The Voice are better because there is a prescreening stage before the blind auditions we see on tv.

I was told that in an article in OUT Magazine Adam (whose brother is gay) addressed AI and the Voice on the issue of screening out for “obvious” sexual orientation. He said AI had done that and that the Voice did not do that. Perhaps that is part of the explanation. IDK.

I know its all about the Voice, but I wish only good things for a 19 year old male who works with autistic kids. The 4 judges this year all seem like caring people. You can see the pain in their eyes and body language when someone is crushed by not getting a chair to turn.

Taco, there’s a screening on ai, too. They let the hilariously bad people through for entertainment.

This season will the coaches have the opportunity to steal the rejected singers during the battle round?

Yes, I they mentioned on the show tonight that they were keeping the “steal.”

Usher and Shakira are both absolutely delightful! The chemistry between all the judges makes this show a great success! I hope the old judges don’t “have” to come back next season. This is really a winning team!

I think so too sopranomom92.

So agree about the great chemistry of the judges. Shakira is adorable but at the same time strong and intelligent.

I like a lot of voices so far … Wouldn’t want to be a judge cutting my own team.
