Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Ah, well. No surprises but I wish Terry had won. I really liked Nicholas too, but didn’t have high hopes since his style is so old school.

Did you notice that within 10 seconds of announcing Cassadee’s win, they were firing up the music and expectiing her to start singing? I heard a few weak words before they cut to the commercial. I don’t think it was prerecorded.

What struck me last night was the cute commercial for the new season with the new judges joining Blake & Adam and then the return date - March 25. I’m hoping that means the next season might go back to a shorter format (smaller teams). I enjoy having this show on while I do teacher “homework” like grading papers & planning tests, but by the end of this 3 months, I just didn’t really care much about the outcome. I enjoyed the “steal” feature, though.

No kidding!

I also think that the itune weighted “vote” doesn’t add to the viewer enjoyment since it makes participating come at a cost. I do see that the recording company giving the prize might like to know in advance that the winner can sell.

I wondered if the car for all three was some acknowledgment that all 3 had talent and a strong following. I’d hate to think that 2 went away after months with only the career boost being a finalist may give them. Especially for two guys with families.

New season starts tonight (March 25). I will be watching to see how Savannah Berry does; a young lady who has had some success with internet/youtube videos who I have been following for a while.

Wish they wouldnt start these on holidays. Now I have to figure out how to TiVo it (or whatever our internet version of record is)

Watching this for the first time. Boyfriend’s parents had to explain the show to me :o lol. My friend is on here… not sure what night she auditioned (they don’t tell them what show they’ll be on). Ahhh so excited!

My favorite by a mile was Judith, who performed last. Her stint with Michael Jackson, shortly before his death, will take her far. I thought her backstory of how she didn’t “strike while the iron was hot”, after singing at his funeral, speaks volumes. I also enjoyed the Morgan sisters, who performed first. Not the best singers, but I like the fact that they are identical twins and harmonize so well together.

I thought the show was great - very entertaining, even though apparently we will have to wait until tonight to see Savannah Berry.

I was impressed that they recognized how great Judith was at her first note. For all the other contestants performing on the Voice was by far their greatest moment, but what could possibly compare to singing a duet on stage with Michael Jackson? She is in a different league.

I watched most of last night and it was pretty much my first experience with the show besides a few minutes here and there. I was drawn in by the current panel of judges . Already love Adam Levine, but I’m a fan of Usher and also was pleasantly surprised by Shakira. Actually was impressed by all 4 of them and how they really seemed to listen, really seemed into it and really seemed genuine with the contestants.

I’ll try to keep watching.

Judith is very talented but I feel like she is a bit of a ringer. I felt that way about Ccaassaaddee Pope last year.

Do the rest of the auditions go tonight or are they spread out over a few weeks?

Everyone seemed to adore Judith, who I think is very talented and is technically and vocally way ahead of the other contestants-- but I didn’t enjoy her voice very much. I hope her sound grows on me. She does seem like a class act.
I do like the new judges, but Shakira needs to step up a bit and tell the singers what she can do for them. The men seem to be better “salesmen.” I thought I would really miss Cee Lo, but I find Usher very charming, and Shakira is a lot more likable than her predecessor.
There’s a lot of young talent out there, and it’s really fun to have it brought into our homes.

Romani- I think there will be a couple more weeks of auditions, if they use the same format as before.

The Voice is on again tonight at 8p.m. It is sooo much better than American Idol.

Thanks, moon.

I liked Judith but I almost feel that it’s unfair to have someone with her credentials on a show. Guess it’s not supposed to be solely for amateurs.

I do not watch these types of shows unless I personally know someone competing. However, the panel got me hooked last night. They were so much fun to watch.

The show has now become eye candy for middle aged moms–with Shakira as the exception that proves the rule. And I’m perfectly okay with that!

And it is soooo nice Shakira is not falling out of her top  I am enjoying her and Usher’s enthusiasm. Her salesmanship is coming out more tonight.

OMG, I missed the first half of the show last night and turned it on JUST when the folk duo “Midas Whale” (hilarious name - came from when one of the duo asked the other to team up - he said, “might as well”. Haha

Anyway, I was just reading that one of the duo was a former American Idol contestant from a few years back - Jon Peter Lewis - he was in the top 10 of AI - looks TOTALLY different now! They made it on Team Adam.

I love this new season… The talent is awesome and the judges all really seem to get along! Of course I am a middle aged mom so that might be clouding my judgement lol
