Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Didn’t expect Judith to go home, her performance yesterday was terrific IMO. Michelle might not be the best vocalist, but she has such a strong stage presence and it’s collecting her voters.

I thought the Swon Brothers had sung their swan song last night. I didn’t like their rendition of the Eagles song at all. The background singers were the best part. I agree with Judith going home. I just can’t warm up to her - no charisma.

Agree. Adam sealed Judith Hill’s fate w/ that song selection – not likely to be downloaded from iTunes. I knew last night she was going home. To remain in the contest the artist (like Michelle) either has to connect w/ viewers to get them to vote or record a song folks are willing to download from iTunes.

I can’t stand to watch the results show so I’m assuming Judith went home - who else?

Don’t you think now that the contestants want Blake or Adam, the best singers are going to gravitate towards them in the initial phase? So if a phenomenal talent gets 4 chair turns, they’re going to most likely pick Adam if they’re pop, Blake if their country. And for heavens sake why would any non country singer pick to be on Blake’s team when that doofus announces over and over that he needs to stick with what he knows. And for heavens sake Blake -stop performing - he’s stunk on every song so far. He and Shakira nearly doomed their own careers when they sang that Lady Antebellum song a few weeks back.

I like Usher and Shakira way more than Christina and CeeLo - sad to hear they’re both leaving.

Sarah Simmons also went home. Personally, I don’t like the voting tied to iTunes purchases. And if the coaches were thinking along those lines, they’d choose more current songs that appeal to iTunes buyers. That’s how their contestants would have a chance.

Judith was my early favorite but as the show progressed, I got tired of her -feeling no connection. Same with Sarah Simmons even though she is so much more expressive when she sings.

I never thought Amber or Holly would still be in - or Sasha for that matter. The brothers are actually a nice change from the women. And I don’t even listen to country music.

Take a closer look at what has happened in the past seasons. How did the doofus do in the last two seasons? How did he do THIS year. And then, take a closer look at who is left. Adam is “stuck” with a CW singer who probably was his last choice to emerge. He just switched horses to play his Adele card.

And, finally, looked at how the other judges performed! Do we really think that Sasha will survive much longer, attesting to the poor choices made in the early parts. What will happen to Usher is more unpredictable as he has done a good job, so far, to give a so-so singer with horrible presence and different looks a chance.

Like it or not, Blake might be a doofus, but he knows how to PLAY THIS GAME, and that is exactly what he is expected to do. He has led different style performers to a reasonable success. Last year, he took another so-so singer and helped bridge her away from CW, and helped that little dude from Scotland by playing the nostalgia card to the bitter end.

This year, he made a distinct bet on CW music, and it is working. And not in a small part because the other judges are making one mistake after the other, and especially Adam with his “have to take risks.” Adam plays his candidates like they were his personal iPod. Simply put, had Sarah been with another judge, she would still be around. The difference were two horrible song choices in the past two weeks. The last one was particularly painful to see and hear.

Well, just as painful to watch that stupid kneel down done by Michele. She makes Tina Fey look graceful. Usher should call Justin Timberlake for a new move. Or call Simon Cowell to borrow his idea how to play Melanie, who moved about one inch total in all her songs. Stick Michele on a chair and, for the love of God, do not let her move around.

PS By the way, most duets on the show are plain horrible. Shakira did indeed butcher than Lady Antebellum song, but are there many artists who can do the song justice. The worst duet to date was last night’s Michele. No real surprise.

Looks like Blake could three-peat with his first country singer.

I agree that Judith although talented did NOT connect with the audience. I could sense her days were numbered. And the same with Sarah. I think that Sasha and Holly will be the next to go.

I agree about the effect of song choice and iTunes download appeal. Adam (who I love!) has missed the boat on song choice. Blake is playing this part of the game like a master choosing songs that are more familiar for his team.

The most painful moment for me last night: 1000 Years duet with Sarah and Danielle. Yikes!

The top-8 performances this week should have been called “corny set week”, with Danielle’s set topping the list for corniness. It looked like it was taken right out of the Lawrence Welk Show’s archives.

I finally watched this week’s shows yesterday night. I think I am losing interest except for Usher and Shakira. They are so good. Judges are the best of Voice unlike American Idol ( Keith is the only exception)

I am not a country fan, but Blake’s team was easier to listen to and consistent. Not sure if the other teams are trying to test/experiment too much, they are all over the map in just one song - so it gets difficult to listen to.

I agree about the sets, I kept getting the feeling that the songs were not performed “live”, instead it felt like the performances were shot in a different “set” at a different time. I can’t criticize too much because I watched the two hour episode in like 45mins or so. I might have missed details while fast-forwarding.

Yes - except I was thinking “Hee Haw.” I’m sure they’re going to dress her up like Daisy Duke before it’s over. Danielle has a nice voice but I have a hard time not muting that music.

I think Michelle has lots of talent, HOWEVER, I don’t know how much longer I can stand to watch her do the squat thrust part of her performance. She does it every single time - argh!!! I am rooting for the Swon Brothers from here on out. I can see myself purchasing their music, but can’t imagine buying anything from the others.

I have not watched this season from the beginning (I think I came in at the top 8 or 10) and I think they are all extremely talented. The production quality is so much better than AI and not as “over the top” as X Factor. I don’t really have a favorite.

Never liked Chamuel. They got it right last year.

Not sure Sasha will survive that last awful song choice. Shakira must miss Piqu

I loved Michelle’s take on the Taylor Swift song. Best song of the night.

I keep expecting Michelle to be sent home. Her version of the Taylor Swift song wasn’t that original, but I still think it will score points on iTunes and save her. Swon brothers and Sasha have been my favorites. My H thinks Danielle will win. I’m amazed by the song choices, and not always in a good way.

My interest this season is dwindling. At first I thought Michelle’s on stage performances were charmingly weird …. now it just seems weird.

Enjoyed Sasha’s first song, it was a smart choice. I doubt the second one will be a favor on iTunes.

I’ve never been a fan of Country music so I can’t understand the appeal of the Swon Brothers.

I agree. This show has had the problem that it is exciting in the early phases and utterly boring as soon as it gets to the public voting. At this stage, it is just a big yawner with the public screaming on a willy-nilly basis and the judges trying to outdo themselves with niceness. Please DO offer some criticisms … none of those singers is a real star. The fact that a teenager can sing circles around the rest of the crop speaks volumes. Just as last year when the best were a aging but talented singer, a cruise ship singer, and someone stuck in the nineties.

If it were up to me, I would force the judges to eliminate ONE candidate every week and only have the public eliminating the other. That might end this asinine praise that seems necessary.

While it will NOT (see below) happen, I hope Tina Fey is sent packing soon. I think it will be one of Blake’s team tonight, as the producers would be livid to see nobody from Adam or Shakira team.

4 * Usher Michelle Chamuel “I Knew You Were Trouble”
12 Blake Danielle Bradbery “A Little Bit Stronger”
18 Usher Michelle Chamuel “Somewhere Only We Know”
20 Blake Danielle Bradbery “Shake the Sugar Tree”
25 Shakira Sasha Allen “Before He Cheats”
28 Blake The Swon Brothers “Wagon Wheel”
31 Adam Amber Carrington “I Remember You”
33 Adam Amber Carrington “Crazy”
43 Shakira Sasha Allen “Ain’t No Way”
47 Blake The Swon Brothers “Okie From Muskogee”
69 Blake Holly Tucker “My Wish”
122 Blake Holly Tucker “When God-Fearin’ Women Get the Blues”

Because her rendition of Taylor Swift’s original “I Knew You Were Trouble” reached into the iTunes Top Ten, Michelle Chamuel is the only contestant of the six (6) remaining to have her votes (for that song alone) via iTunes downloads multiplied by ten (10).

Too much cornpone left in the show for my tastes. There will be a little less after tonight.

What was Shakira thinking??? Sasha needs to stay in her elegant, throw-back mode from here on out…

Except for that big note at the end of song 2, Danielle is starting to bore me. I do think will be a big country star at the show’s end.

I’m starting to warm up to Amber.

Swons going home next… but then who?
