didn’t see last night’s show (and forgot to TIVO; oh well)…sounds like I didn’t miss much; live shows start next week?

Just heard today that The Voice will be the Super Bowl follow-up show (assuming there is a Super Bowl this year)

Just heard today that The Voice will be the Super Bowl follow-up show (assuming there is a Super Bowl this year)

you can watch it on nbc.com, rodney.

I liked Casey and Jeff’s duet–but Casey’s hair/face make up were awful. Well, at least she has hair (agree about the need for bangs).

I really LOVE Xenia’s voice–whether or not she wins any competition. I hope she isn’t voted off anytime soon.

My lol of the day.

Would have liked to have seen Cherie go through…maybe I just have a soft spot in my heart for back up people trying to make it up to the front.

Okay, I finally watched my DVR’d version of the 5/31 show. Can someone dig up some history on Lily Elise? I think I saw her perform in a Berklee 5-week vocal showcase in 2008, and I know she would be about a junior at USC/Thornton by now. If it’s the same girl, and she looks very familiar, if not a bit older, she really does have a great voice, but she was almost over-confident in her performance, which can make her less likable. Oh, and Casey needs a make-over … her voice was terrific, but her make-up didn’t match her voice so I was annoyed watching her. Anyway, that’s my dirt for the week.

Just found a youtube of Lily Elise singing ‘Love You I Do’ at Berklee from the 5-week in 2008. She is going to USC as confirmed by a news interview posted also on youtube.

Don’t forget the show moves to an earlier time slot tonight. Glad the battle rounds are over!

Thanks for the reminder, 2V … one hour earlier is better. 10PM ET required me to stay up too later or DVR it for viewing the next day or so. I’m not sure how the format is working for me, but I do have a new-found interest in Lily. When I saw her live in 2008 she seemed much shorter/smaller, so I didn’t recognize her at first on this show. Either way, she has a great voice so I’m hoping they showcase her differently in the next rounds.

Ellemenope … i look forward to your comments, as usual!

Sound is bad tonight? I feel like I can’t really hear Beverly.

I could hear Beverly fine, and I think she is one heck of a singer. I am not sure Jared could hear himself … he sounded like he was off key to me, but in-key on the off-key. I do NOT like the screaming stuff … Rachel doesn’t do it for me. I really liked Dia … she has come so far, and I am really impressed.

The most amazing feat tonight was Christina’s breasts staying in her costume during the group performance. I was anticipating a wardrobe malfunction.

Christina apparently doesn’t realize that she needs a larger size. It’s not like she can’t afford it … :)

I love how the guys are genuine in their critiques and will give effusive compliments to others not on their team. Christina, on the other hand, is very stingy on saying too much nice to anyone on Blake’s team. I LOVED Dia’s performance and love Xenia’s voice, she just seems so scared. Liked Beverly’s singing for the first time, she’s been too much of a screamer for me prior to this. She sounded exactly like Melissa Etheridge though, unlike Dia who really made Kanye’s song her own.

I’m confused as to why tonight is a “live” show. Cee Lo is here in Toronto tonight for a concert with Rihanna so I’m not sure how he’s also on a “live” show in L.A.

Dia is my favorite so far.

Guess it was taped live, eh? (yes, that was an intentional eh)

Like Jared, Patrick seems to not quite hear himself. Just that little bit “off” in key.

Dia is also my favorite tonight.

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I sure liked seeing how classy Blake’s young ladies looked during the group performance. I am sorry that Rachel was so trashed out tonight. She seemed so cute & bubbly in the rehearsals …

So is the backstage stuff live, then? The tweeting, etc. The performers are in the clothes they performed in. At the beginning, I did see a small disclaimer on the screen about portions pre-recorded but just assumed they meant the background stuff.

Dia was my favorite tonight.

I think there is still more to come from Dia, especially her overall look. She’s got a great face, her voice is very nice, but the flats with dress? Stage time is not the time to be comfortable. Rachel’s voice in her solo was not strong enough. Xenia’s tone is amazing … her bravery may just need 2 more years. Beverly’s voice was amazing, but I still wouldn’t know how to showcase her for the mass market that these types of shows seem to like. The headband on the 2nd chance guy distracted me and made him seem out-of-date, but he does have a good voice.

I didn’t like Patrick as much as I thought I would, but perhaps he was just trying too hard with a few of those notes. Christina was very un-classy with her comments on multiple fronts tonight, not the least being her comment about Patrick’s pants. Honestly … I think that is why Blake emphasized a few times in his wrap up comments how classy and professional Patrick represented country music tonight. Christina, you need to step it up, girl. Between the girls popping out and your trashy comments, I am not impressed tonight. Yes, you have an amazing voice, but don’t dress yourself and please don’t talk.

Oh, and my favorite, Lily, did me proud tonight. She showed more control than in previous performances, and I think she can still show even more control to showcase the real voice and tone that she has, but I’m sure she was super nervous tonight. Her look tonight was nice, although she may have been going a little over the top in her demure posing. Oh to be 19 and a future pop star. She’ll get there.
