Purity of voice is where the singer can sing any part of a song by opening her mouth and she will hit the right note first try. Purity of voice is when reaching a note she can keep it without jumping up a note and one can hold a note with withering.

Ok… Thanks bevhills.

Well, I’m just talking about this season, where three young, female, blonde country singers made it to the top 6 (that’s 50% the last time I took math), and I couldn’t have distinguished one from the other if you paid me cash to do it. That makes for a very boring show for those of us who don’t care for that style of music–and I realize they didn’t all sing country all the time, except for Danielle (I think). Add the Swons, and there was more country than an Easterner like me could deal with. I wouldn’t be surprised if some producer tinkering with the selection process keeps this from happening again.

Not sure if you have your tongue pressed firmly against your cheek… or not. If not, the fact she’s Jewish just got revealed last night, as Jonri points out, and I’m not sure being Jewish would lose her votes. I’m Jewish, maybe I’m being naive. I think there’s a better argument to be made that should she lose it might be more because of her sexual orientation than her religion. (My perception is that she’s gay and more people would hold that against her than her religion.) I actually think she is attractive and, although Cassadee has/had an attractive face, I hated her forearm tattoo. To be clear, I have more of an aversion to tattoos than sexual orientation.

Just because you look quirky doesnt mean you deserve the win. I am not impressed with Michelle not because she doesnt have Miss USA looks but rather because of the reasons cited by posts #992, #993 and #994. I also would like to add that many times when she sings her voice fades in and out. Its like someone presses the mute button or turns the volume down low for a second or so. Its quite odd if purity of voice means hitting the right note the first try when there are times I didnt even hear the note. :)

My favorite performance among the 3 finalists for this season is Bradberys Heads Carolina, Tails California, and Who I Am. I also like the Swon brothers Dannys Song. The last time I liked a country song was when I was a little girl and heard Linda Ronstadt sing Blue Bayou. In any case I find myself singing Heads, Carolina Tails, California.

Purity of voice? Listen to Alison Krauss. I agree with Xiggi’s assessment of Michelle. I think she is real average and I am shocked she got this far. I thought Judith Hill was head and shoulders above everyone else on the show, a “ringer”, unfair competition, but given the format I wasn’t totally surprised that she was eliminated.

I won’t give spoilers except to say that the opening number with Xtina was a mess.

We will soon know.

Hard to believe how bad team Usher really was. That last performance was horrendous and painful to watch and listen to. In a way, it is such a shame Usher did not inherit all of Adam’s singers.

The finale was about 75 minutes too long. :)

All is well. A beautiful, talented, and utterly deserving winner. And a three-peat for Blake.

Sweet.

Just like you said earlier, xiggi, it’s all in the eyes of the beholder. Maybe we should have said, “ears of the beholder”. ;)

You know, after this season I really think we should suggest that people just don’t read this thread if they don’t want to know what happened. It seems silly to not really talk about the results. In two days, this will be old news.

And that was said where, exactly?

Thanks for illustrating what really matters. :)

I hate the “reveal” shows so I only watched the last 15 minutes. However, I did flip through when Danielle was singing with a country “star” (Hunter-something?) and she really seemed to be having fun. She still looked nervous, but she definitely seemed to be having a great time. I think with some coaching she can develop a great stage persona.

Glad she won as I truly thought she was the best one.

I didn’t know that Michelle was Jewish and I would hate her “squatting-move” regardless of any religious, cultural, sexual connection…I SWEAR!

Well, perhaps, some of us erred on the side of too much parsing, but I think that the quotation below clearly intimated (actually spelled it out) that the only reason Michelle would NOT win was because she was neither pretty nor sexy. The assumption that people might not vote for her because of her religion or looks was clear.

Yet, the quirkiness might not have been exactly on your list, but that is some of us concluded from the message. I, for one, was not liking her less because of her looks, but because I did not like her voice as much as others, and surely did not like her stage moves (perhaps because it was a direct reflection of what she is used to do with that group of hers.) I would not care for someone smashing guitars on stage either! Fwiw, please remember that my favorite last year was Nicholas and that I did not like Cassadee – can’t blame me for beind fixated on the looks. :)

Anyway, the competition is over. Obviously, I think the result was correct, but I can see why others might be disappointed as Michele did earn plenty of support. The “proof” will come from the continuing support. Will people go see her or buy her records? Will Usher continue to profess his love through much support. I happen to think that it will not happen, but I surely would be happy to be entirely wrong on that issue.

Now, we all can return to our regular programming, and move our arguments to things that really matters. After all, those shows are for entertainment purposes!

X

I was not a big Danielle fan initially but could more see the appeal after her duet with Hunter Hayes. She seemed to show more of a fun side and more personality than I had noticed previously. She probably does have the most commercial appeal of the final 3 and I have a feeling she has a good career ahead of her.

I have a feeling the Swon Brothers will be terribly successful. Blake seems to really like them a lot and I am sure he will be able to help them get a recording contract. I love their brand of old style country and I will buy their first album for sure.

And might I add that Blake is adorable and I just recently begged my DD to audition for the Voice so she can just get that close to Adam, Usher, and Blake and I can live vicariously lol.

Just saw that Big Machine records has signed Danielle already. Good for her!

Congratulations to The Voice for winning an emmy for best reality TV show beating Amazing Race, DWTS, and SYTYCD. Tune in Monday for the beginning of a new season!

I have to remind myself to exercise while watching … these shows have caused me to sit around and gain 5 pounds over the last several years! Looking forward to the show.

My young neighbor is on The Voice this season! We’re so excited.
