Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Well, miraculously, I thought that each team kept the right three. Although I wish that the woman who lost the knock-out round to the obnoxious Shelby Z had had a further chance.

Interesting that this season they kept the same number from each team. Wasn’t this the point last season where they let some teams be almost obliterated?

Consolation, My recollection last season is that they started out with the same number from each team (4 not 3?), at this stage of the show, but that changed in the weeks that followed as some coaches quicly lost their team. Blake’s team stayed pretty much intact, having 2 in last season’s finals.

I think Caroline can win the Voice.
She has 2 songs in the itunes top 100.

When I watch the Voice, I wonder if a Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, or Sarah Vaughan could win the Voice (if they were alive)?

I only regretted the “Georgia on my Mind” singer not going through. She was thrown under the bus by that song choice, which was never going to sell on iTunes despite all she managed to do with it, and it looks like the the coaches kept on eye on iTune sales in making their choices. She was certainly better than that Kat person, who not only ruined a song I like a whole lot, but has an obnoxious personality. (I don’t know why I get so invested in this show, when a week after the season ends I’ll have forgotten every singer.)

" (I don’t know why I get so invested in this show, when a week after the season ends I’ll have forgotten every singer.)"

:)

I was surprised that Preston didn’t make it through…he’s more entertaining to me than Will. Have to wonder how much advantage Tessanne has if the entire island of Jamaica is in her corner, voting and i-tuning.

I’ve been watching for Tessanne Chin, just because I’ve been a fan of hers for years. Jamaica is losing it’s mind over her, it’s cool to see even if long distance at the moment :)

I have to agree that the Georgia On My Mind singer was very good, and deserved to progress when compared to the whole field. Some teams were stronger than others. I think Preston was pretty limited, but I’m a fan of Will.

I love just listening to Tessanne TALK, let alone sing. :)

I’m missing Usher and Shakira. Christina seems to blab on and on without saying anything, and Celo is just creepy.

Anyone watching tonight?

I watched. I guess I am just plain old, but I had never heard more than half of those songs. Not that it’s important to know the song to enjoy this show, but it just hammers home how out of touch I am!

I was not as impressed with Caroline this week, but I doubt she will be going home. Jacquie and Tessanne were really strong. I like the geek (might be my favorite guy) and Will (but he seems so sad). I think Jonny and the bald guy may be in danger. Or maybe someone else that was so forgettable I forgot them. lol

All three singers of Team Ceelo are in trouble. They were the weakest tonight and poor choices of songs won’t help.

Will has grown so much.

I thought Schuler’s Hallelujah was beautiful…but I doubt a lot of people will buy it. I felt sort of the same way about Man in the Mirror. Good job–but not as good as Michael Jackson’s version…so who would buy it? Was Cristina purposefully protecting Jacquie by giving her the only song (of the 3) that people might buy? Or am I way off base?

Matthew Schuler: “Hallelujah” - top 9 in Itunes surpassing Jacquie Lee: “Love Is Blindness” at 35.

Didn’t expect that at all.

I also did NOT like Caroline’s song choice or performance to open the show. I agree with musicmom and xiggi. Not sure why the judges gave her such lavish praise? I thought that she had trouble keeping up with the lyrics and the pace of the song. I think she is in trouble this week.

I actually liked Kat but had no clue what “Rabbi Green”, her coach, was saying after her performance. I thought Jonny’s song choice was great and personally don’t think he is in any trouble this week. A veteran on Veteran’s Day, is not going home!

Josh improved from last week.

I don’t think James is the rocker his coach Adam thinks he is and thought he was better last week. Wouldn’t be surprised if James is in the bottom group this week.

Austin is moving up. Blake’s strategy to have him cross over to country this week was a smart move. He is the dark horse contender.

Jacquie is my favorite but I hope Christina takes Jacquie in a different direction next week. Didn’t love the song choices or performances in back-to-back weeks and I think her best is yet to come.

Ray is in trouble…

I like Tessanne the person more than her voice but she’s not going home yet.

The perfect song choice for Matthew. He did a great rendition. He’s a contender. Up until tonight, I haven’t really liked him.

Love Cole Vosbury. He is so smooth. His musicality is amazing. Only got CeeLo to turn his chair in the blind auditions and then let him go in the battle rounds… are you kidding me? There is going to be a new spinoff of the Voice: “Austin and Cole Do Duck Dynasty The Musical”.

Will is also a contender. The guys are so strong this season but also have the bottom two, imo, in James and Ray.

I thought Matt won the night and it wasnt close.

Matthew Schuler … Hands down. That was beautiful.

Kat was over the top as a performer, which was fun to watch, but I am not into that old style Katitude. Caroline is sweet, but I don’t feel like the songs are her own as much as she has a sweet voice. I did love the guy with the long hair and long beard (Cole?) … He showed some talent tonight.

I get tired of the screamers, too. I must prefer clear sound and excellent vocal quality over loudness or screechiness, something that the 16-year-old didn’t manage this time.

The Apple geek was off tonight … Adam tried to disguise it with compliments, but. I didn’t go for it.

Johnny should just stand there and slightly smile because he is a beautiful human. He sang nicely, but I think his humble act and beauty gets him bonus points even if he doesn’t belt or do fancy things with notes. Plus, on Veterans Day, I just truly appreciate him and all others that served our countries.

I just voted for Matt Schuler and James Wolpert. I didn’t realize you could vote for more than one person until I tried it. I gave Matt 2 more votes. Matt, as I mentioned upthread, is the friend of a friends son. I thought Matt did an amazing job on “Hallelujah”.

On a beauty note, didn’t Christina’s make-up look kind of weird? It was as if they forgot the blush and did the eyes differently. Assuming of course that some stylist person did her up…

I haven’t seen much of the show this season but caught most of last night’s episode. I enjoyed Austin and Cole, and James. I thought the rendition of Hallelujah was good but there are so many terrific covers of that song, it’s difficult for people not to make a comparison. Also, Christina referring to it as Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah? Seriously, Christina, you should know who wrote that song. Good for Adam in correcting her.

It IS Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah. Leonard Cohen wrote it originally. The original verses aren’t the ones we know now. However, he sang different verses over time–something like 80 of them. Buckley picked those particular verses and sang them. Different covers before him sang different verses. That’s why this version is referred to as “Buckley’s version.”
