Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Ha ha! I had the same thought last night. :)

dstark, I wouldn’t mind seeing Josh and Austin go next, or even Jonny. I like all of them, but at this point the singers I want to see stay until the end are Will, James, and Cole.

They are butchering one of my favorite B-52 songs tonight, especially Ceelo. Ugh.

Saved so far: Caroline, Matthew, Austin, Tessanne, Jacquie, Cole, Will,Ray, James

Anyone else watching? (Yes, at least one!)

Trying to figure out if the CURRENT itunes list matters–or only the ones this a.m.

Jonny & Josh eliminated.

Kat saved by the instant save on twitter.

I’m surprised by that. I do wonder how the “regular” vote went.

Consolation, the singers you liked got through…

Ok… I am on the west coast and I want spoilers. Who else was saved?

Ok Jonri. Thanks. :)

Well, that was tense. I was really surprised that Jonny went first of the final three. I was pleased that Kat was saved–still a chance to hear her channel Grace Slick. (Who, BTW, since this is CC, went to the same finishing-school-like college as Tricia Nixon: Finch.)

I spent several minutes desperately trying to recall my Twitter password, but gave up. (Have an account but have never used it.)

What a bummer… Now we have to wait until Monday for the next elimination round. :)

No real surprise, except that two members of Team SooLow should have been sent packing. Josh could have stayed another week. Kat was easily the worst performer last night. She should not be that lucky next week. Based on this week, Kat and Ray should expect to eat turkey with their loved ones. Unless the clueless tweeters save them.

Kat better imitate Grace Slick or Janis Joplin or she is gone.

Or wearing goofy glasses, being awkward, and kneeling down in every song. Says the guy who does not like her one bit since the start.

OMG, just saw that Team Ceelo group performance. We should be able to send all four of them home at once. Can it get any worse than that. And I always liked Ceelo as a vocalist. Even Glee sounds better. Now, his pet Ollama … that is cool as a contraction of Oh Lame you know who!

I certainly don’t think Kat will or should win, but she’s more fun than some of the others. (Just can’t let it go, can you, xiggi? ) I wonder if they would be allowed to do White Rabbit on the tv…

So, will Tessanne ever do anything but a power ballad? Could she do something with a beat? Does Cole have a chance of winning despite his creepy beard? Burning questions of the morning…

Just hearing A Hard Day’s Night reminds me of how much I miss performance of songs without all the costumes and show gimmicks.

But this is typical of these shows where “To Make You Feel My Love” (Dylan) is credited to Adele and “Without You” (Badfinger) to Mariah Carey.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard “Killing Me Softly” credited to Lauryn Hill, instead of the person who wrote and performed it: Roberta Flack. It was done on The Voice.

Okidoki, who should be credited for the original version of the ever so famous My Way? Hint … It might surprise you.

I hate that song.

Interesting, I see Paul Anka and the French pop star Claude Francois on the list of writers. Don’t recognize the other two.

ETA: the song certainly has a long and interesting history!

^^^
The same guy who wrote the Tonight Show theme, for which Johnny took the credit.

That’s what she’s BEEN doing, prior to The Voice :)

[Tessanne Chin sings “If You Love Me” at Shaggy’s Party in Kingston - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Ljy6uRxNs)

I’d love to see her do something like it on the show.

Yep, and many people assume it is Paul Anka + Frank Sinatra song. The true creators of the original song are indeed from France. Claude Francois wrote the lyrics for an original melody and incorporated some changes. Paul Anka heard the song and “bought” the rights to the foreign version of Comme d’Habitude, and rewrote the lyrics on a totally different theme. The French version is a very sad song about a breakup; the English is one is the known version about a content older person. I know this because it was the favorite trivia tripping question of my father. That and plenty obscure facts about Belgium. Can you believe the Belgians claim to have invented … golf since it was a game played in the streets of Brussels in the 1300 with sticks and stones!

But back to The Voice and its regular programming.
