She has a lot of great reggae covers. By My Side with Third World is cool too. Very different style from the power ballad stuff on The Voice so far. A little dancehall with Shaggy…and a rock n roll redo of a reggae song (Could You Be Loved). Very versatile, I hope she gets to show it off on this show.

Down memory lane - Michelle Chamuel’s new single - a “message” song. Xiggi, I’m pretty sure you can tell when she’ll make your favorite move near the end.

Mathew Schuler brought it again. I think he is separating himself from everybody else. Tessanne was great. Cole was great. I dont know who is going to be sent home.

Loved Matt, Tessanne, Kat and Will. I wasn’t feeling Cole tonight at all- might have been the song. Caroline wasn’t strong, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes home.

Tessanne was flawless., plus Usain Bolt was there to support. Matt S was very good, but the beginning of his song was not as strong as his 2nd half.

Many others were good, but not in the same league, although Cole was the highest of the bunch.

Cartera, I forced myself to listen to the end of the Going Down Singing song to visualize the gesture. Going down is an appropriate title. Do you really like that song?

I just watched the tape of tonight’s show, and I am puzzled by the sugarcoating that comes out of the mouth of the judges. Adam seemed to enjoy the song he picked for Will. I still think Adam pushes the envelope too far. Ceelo is downright bizarre.

I think this has been mentioned before but I have to think that the live aspect of the show must have a big impact of the judges perception of how well everyone is performing. I wonder what their reaction would be if they watched them on tv like we do. Because after just about every performance, sometimes in the middle of one, my husband and I will give them a middle of the road rating. Only a few times have I thought, “Wow!, That was really good!”

There are some that I want to like because of the backstory or personality, but then they perform and it’s just meh. Ray and Caroline for example. Kat is wearing thin. Not blown away by anyone else except for Matthew. He is consistently a joy to watch, rough edges and all.

Agree about Tessanne…I wasn’t moved to replay her performance, much less pay for it on itunes.

I like the message but not my taste in songs. I do really like a lot of her older stuff though.

Regarding last night, Matt was a mess and I couldn’t believe the judges gave him a pass on it. Kat’s voice sounds damaged. I don’t think I even have a favorite this year.

Several of the singers have voices that seam to break up around the edges of phrases: Kat, Caroline, Matt. Yet they are very interesting and have a great tone in the center. It is unclear to me what is going on with them. Do they need more vocal training? Breath control? Is it nerves? Physical maturity in some cases? I tend to think that in Caroline’s case it is a style thing that has become almost a crutch. Matt probably just needs more training. Kat either has damaged her voice or needs some training also.

It is not uncommon for these singers and others on The Voice to get to the end of a phrase and not really know what to do with it. They want to do something different and personal, but they either don’t know what to do or can’t physically sustain it.

Then there are those who can’t seem to grasp how to shape a song. They go for the money note and then stay up there far to long. I get so I’m just dying to hear some vocal colors, but it’s just belting and belting. Either that, or there is editing going on and the editors are cutting out everything else, I don’t know.

All of this is one reason why I really like Will. He is very musical, I think, and he knows how to shape a song.

Haven’t watched this week’s recording yet, but watched the previous episodes over the weekend.

I may slowly switching to country music - Blake’s team is consistent and easy on the ear. His team seems to sing what they can do best not testing out something new and sounding miserable. Christina also seems to be doing good job and may give Blake a good competition. I liked Mathew’s rendition.

I am still impressed by the judges on The Voice compared to American Idol. Hope they don’t change into the zombies like the ones on the Idol.

Is it just me or others feel this way? The set and lighting seems to be too flashy and not well thought out. American Idol set and the lighting is more pleasant and I also like Ryan :)

Mum, the sets are too flashy for my liking as well, but X-Factor still wins the award for the flashiest sets. I thought Caroline’s set was corny and Will’s shooting fire is “overworked” and so unnecessary. Not sure who has final approval on them, but less is more.

And it is doubtful that he will improve much on that front. While I like him, as he shown tremendous progress and resilience, it’s good to remember that he got tossed around by the judges. I am really afraid that he will turn into the sacrificial lamb on Team Adam – if history repeats itself when Adam pushes the contestants towards the styles that … please foremost Adam.

This season is wide open, and there has never been a clear frontrunner who will be able to carry it all the way to the end. Most have reached their limits. Several are getting boring after being overhyped.

Anyhow, it will probably become a slugfest between the contestants who can gather plenty of votes that have little to do with talent and performance. The Jamaicans must be busy finding ways to compete with the CW/Duck Dynasty army of Blake. I think they others will be washed away in the next few weeks.

Oh well, that is how they keep the show fresh.

I think Will could go out and have a career today. Not true of many others. I hope the show gives him the exposure to do that.

I think Matt and Jacqui both have huge talent, but neither is a finished product, so to speak.

I would love to hear Tessanne do something sassy or at least brisk and syncopated. Bonnie Raitt’s Don’t Advertise Your Man. Joni Mitchell’s Big Yellow Taxi. There are a lot of Joni Mitchell songs that would be great for Caroline, if she could pull them off. The Circle Game, for example, or Ladies of the Canyon or something like that.
