Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I really liked Tessanne’s Bridge. I think it’s very likely she’ll win this thing.

catera, I totally agree with you. I thought I was the only one who noticed Will’s problems tonight. Tessanne won me back. She was fantastic.

Someone need to start a “Sing-Off” thread. I think I’m really going to enjoy that show.

Twice they showed Cole waiting to sing while the crew were working on him - hair and clothes. It reminded me of the cowardly lion in The Wizard of Oz when they get to Oz and they are groomed before seeing the wizard.
I still like Will and actually voted tonight for the first time. He is the only one I would care to see again after the show wraps next week. Looking forward to the Swann Brothers coming back to perform, but I’ve already forgotten if they said tomorrow or next week.
I’m glad to have The Sing Off back after a 2 year hiatus and anxious to see the Ackousticats. Two of the members are from my hometown and I’ve followed one of them since he was in elementary school.

Hey, dstark, are you still “tuned in?”

Not quite an hour later…the ONLY song from tonight’s show which has broken into the top 100 is…at #50…

Jaquie’s “Angel.”

Hey, lots of time to go, still…

I’m watching “Sing Off” but this is not really my cup of tea. I’m giving it a shot though.

Emblem 3 on steroid. One show I will gleefully pass.

I am not sure why Adam brings it up at all if it’s private, but if I had to guess, her boyfriend is no longer in the audience, so she either misses him or they are going through tough times.

Don’t like Jackie’s belting either, but she sure is talented. My favs are Will, Tessanne and James’ voice, but not James’ charisma. Jackie will make something really good of herself, once she gets more life experience and stops trying to please the world and her coach. Cole is too ho hum for me, but I do like his voice a lot.

Jonri, :).

I am going to watch the Voice in half an hour.

Oh…what a difference an hour makes. Tessanne’s Bridge is now at #10. Jacquie is #13 with Angel. Cole is at #26. Will at #30. James lagging at #38.

PS OK, dstark! I think Jacquie will survive 'til next week.

And, Snowflake, Tessanne is married…so it’s a husband…not a boyfriend. I HOPE they aren’t having problems. If they are, Adam Levine is an A S S for mentioning it.

Bummer… :)

Order still the same, but…
10: Tessanne
12: Jacquie

24 Cole

25 Will

35 James

I am happy with that list.

Tessane still does nothing for me. I don’t care for her tone, which I find to be somewhat nasal, and she brings no style or personality to her singing. Worst of all, she seems frumpy and older than her actual years, and in this business that’s the kiss of death. If she wins, she’ll get as far as the first two Voice winners, Javier and Jermaine—nowhere.

Although I haven’t cared for Jacquie until now, I have to say I was impressed with the versatility she showed tonight. With proper vocal coaching (i.e., not Christina!) and less reliance on her belt, I think she has an amazing future.

I don’t understand Cole’s success. He’s competent, but not more than that, and also shows little personality. I hear nothing unique in his voice. But I guess if Blake adds him to his stable of country openers, he’ll do okay.

I have no comment regarding James, because I just can’t get over the icky/creepy factor enough to pay attention to his voice. He strikes me as that guy you get stuck next on a long flight who just won’t shut up and bores you silly.

Though I love Will’s voice when he’s at his best, he’s been awfully inconsistent in his ability to properly perform a song, tonight being a prime example. Carry On is meant to soar and be uplifting, but Will seemed pained the whole time. He appears to take no joy in singing, and that really puts a barrier between him and the audience.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters is one of my favorite songs. Simon and Garfunkel were my favorite non jazz artists. Adam made a fantastic choice of songs. Fantastic.

Tessanne does nothing for me. My wife said she is fantastic. My wife said she would buy her version of Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

I thought Jacquie was fantastic. I dont get the negative comments today.

James is going home. Will or Cole is going home. I dont know which. I prefer Will stay.

Tessanne and Jacquie are going through.

When I made the bet with Xiggi, I took two artists. He got 6.

Tomorrow…it is going to be 1 for me. 2 for xiggi.

My odds are improving. :)

Jacquie can win.

I thought each singer tonight gave their best performance of the season. I didn’t hear Adam reveal any details of what Tessanne was going through. Is it possible that they edited his comments when it aired on the west coast? If so, then I think “A S S” stands for awesome song selections on his part for his whole team. Even so, James is probably in trouble once again. I loved Christina’s song choice for Jacquie and she really delivered…

I don’t watch the show, but because James is a local boy covered by our local paper, I’ve cheated and read this thread, as well as listened to contestants online the morning after.

I thought James did well last night, but fear he will be eliminated tonight.

Jacquie has always impressed me with her strong voice. I think she will win.

Reading some blog called “Zap 2 It”, I found this statement by Tessanne.

as of 7 a.m. Tuesday on a website that compiles the Top 100 across all iTunes categories, Tess #1, Jacquie #8, Will #11, Cole#13 AND James #15

I thought James did a karoake quality performance of "With or Without You’. Tessane was great, but I don’t see much commercial potential. Win or lose, she’ll go back to being a star in Jamaica, but not break through here. I seem to be in the minority in liking Cole last night. If he makes it through, give him something like “The Weight” or a Ray Lamontagne song next week. I didn’t love Jacquie last night, but think she is the only one left who actually could become a pop star.

I’m trying to think of an East Asian pop star whose native language is English (not like Psy or stars working in Asian countries). It would be really interesting if she became the first(?) to break through here.
