Not getting all the love the coaches are showing for Sisaundra (sp?). Another over-the-top old school wailer who won’t fit anywhere in the contemporary music scene. I find her style exhausting, and much preferred the singer she was matched with, who had plenty of power but also brought nuance to her performance.

For me, I enjoyed Kat and Patrick’s battle round the most. I am glad Patrick and “2nd time performing” Blake got 2nd chances.

Shakira just made a big mistake in keeping the woman of her battle pair, IMHO. The guy had a great voice. I found the woman’s voice unpleasant.

New twist of this season next week… battle round 2. Each coach will get 1 additional steal to use. That way, no one remaining in the competition slips through the cracks.

I like that. I think there are some good singers out there.

I like the new twist. But there are definitely some people who should stay who went, and vice versa! I guess they don’t get another chance…

I was torn about Usher’s pair from Utah. The girl has potential, but the guy is good now. Loved Adam’s comment that their “battle” was like golden retriever puppies gamboling through a field of wheat. I like Usher’s more collaborative take on battles…less of people trying to outscream one another, more good performances.

For me, Utah’s Madeline Paige is one of the more intriguing singers in the whole competition. Kind of reminds me of past winner Danielle Bradbery (except for the different genre of music). Madeline could have a nice run in the coming weeks. I also really like Don and Hawkes from Team Adam who remind me of Alex and Sierra (XFactor).

I thought Adam’s comment was snarky. Just goes to show how different people can view things differently.

I was glad the plump African-American singer from Alaska got saved. I think being a performer is in part about coming across as nice–and I think she really does. When she’s singing, she seems happy.

Oh…loved the duet between Sierra (my Alaska fave) and TJ. I don’t want either of them to get sent home!
Well, Sierra’s out. I have to admit that TJ was great.

I thought Sierra was wonderful, too, and couldn’t understand why no one saved her. Poor girl. That flight back to Alaska and obscurity is going to be a sad one.

For me, the battle round 2 pairing I enjoyed most was Jake and Tess. I thought they were both the most improved over their previous performance. The song choice was selected by the two competitors from a short list prepared by their coaches. This collaboration on each song made for some really good battles, imo. The only song choice that didn’t seem to suit one of the singers was that chosen by the pairing of Josh and Patrick. I thought it suited Patrick more than Josh.

Edit: I really liked Cierra, also! She definitely was one of the ones who deserved another save. At least she has law school to fall back on. Talented AND bright…

And now I feel bad that I spelled Cierra’s name wrong! Hopefully she doesn’t read CC…

Not sure what was worse on Tuesday night, the pairings, song choices, or Usher’s Daniel Boone coon tail cap? Much better show on Monday, imo. I wish more coaches had their steal remaining besides Blake.

I was interrupted in the middle of it: will have to watch online.

I don’t get the coonskin cap thing, either. :)

I was surprised that Adam stole that last guy. I thought there were way better people being let go.

I think he saw something that he could work to refine. He seems to really like to make contestants better. He and Blake like the “coaching” stuff a lot.

I did not watch Monday night, but I saw Blake’s team’s playoff tonight. I agreed with the three he chose. I won’t spoil it for those who have not watched yet, though, in case anyone wants to be surprised. ;

Watching it now on the west coast and I have not read any spoilers. I was disappointed with Madeline Paige tonight and her song choice. She was one of my faves early on but now I think she might not make the cut. I didn’t love Jake Worthington either. Thought Audra had the top country performance tonight on Team Blake. Madeline and Jake seemed to be like “deer in headlights”. My least favorite on Team Blake was Sisaundra Lewis. She has a big voice but it is ALWAYS in overdrive. She can not seem to pull it back and pick her spots to unleash the beast.

Agree about Sisaundra. She took a contemplative Billy Joel song and festooned it with so much glitter, banners and balloons that it was unrecognizable–and that was AFTER Blake told her to dial it back! I hate that overwrought, show-offy style of singing. I can’t see what place it has in todays’ pop music world (except for a cruise ship lounge), so I don’t know what she thinks she’s accomplishing. She’s 44 and has never made it as a solo artist–it’s not going to happen now, no matter how many runs she jams into a single song.

^^^Totally agree. Can’t imagine anyone would buy a Sisaundra CD. It’s all so self indulgent.
