Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I think DaNica is obviously a very good singer, but I must be amongst the few people in the world who are not crazy about Whitney Houston and her songs.

I thought Chris and Craig Wayne Boyd were the best and Reagan and Ryan the worst. Everyone else was in the middle for me. I’d put Taylor John Williams in the bottom 3.

hmm…everyone has his/her own take. Mine:

Best perfornances: Matt, Damien, Craig, DaNica

Middle: Reagan, Taylor John, Chris, Anita

Candidates to leave: Luke, Ryan

I can’t believe I actually agree with Xiggi. Usually I can get excited about a couple of contestants, but not tonight.

I thought Reagan and Luke were the worst tonight. I liked Chris the best. The rest - eh.

I like Ryan, I just don’t think he has found his niche yet. He’s too pretty to be doing rock. He is not a natural mover on stage. I had hoped he would have a “moment” by now, but I fear he will be going home. I would also like to see Anita go. Don’t like her at all. The painful part of the group number was the girls. I’m predicting a male winner this year.

I hate, hate, hate it when they run around in the audience like that. Maybe that’s enjoyable if you’re in the live audience but it’s crap for the TV audience. Plus they get out of breath. Just stand there and sing for goodness sake.

Watching this in bits and pieces. Seems like older songs are sounding better. at least for Craig and Danica. Not sure why Blake went along with an Iggy Azalea song for Reagan. Only saving grace is that three or four were total disasters a la Anita, Luke and Ryan.

At this stage, the show would be more interesting if they sent half of them home at once.

I agree with xiggi. Get rid of some of the contestants. I dont know why just 2 are eliminated.

I FF’d all the coaches’ comments.

I will be a little surprised if Luke is in the bottom this week. I didn’t like the audience antics but I thought he gave a relatively solid vocal performance.

Agree with those that thought Matt had somewhat of an off-night.

I didn’t like Damien’s song choice and thought his lower range was shaky tonight. Adam always seems to make poor song choices for his team at this stage every season.

Reagan was absolutely horrible. She’s in trouble. She was the worst, followed by Anita and Ryan. Anita looked like a Janelle Monae wannabe.

Craig Wayne Boyd probably had the best performance of the night and maybe the entire season.

DaNica is the only female worthy of moving on.

I thought Taylor looked and sounded great. I thought it was his best performance.

Great song choice and performance for Chris. Redemption for Adam.

And, on itunes, as of 5:30 ish this morning, Craig was in the lead; Taylor John second, Matt third.

It’s fun reading all the comments here. After I watched last night I came here to see what you all felt about the singers. You guys are really tough critics! These are not professionals, (for the most part) but amateurs looking for guidance, so I guess I would be a little less critical of most of the performances. I agree that Reagan is weak vocally, but she’s 16 and probably has had little training. Craig was wonderful, but then he’s quite a bit older and had a lot of experience. I was surprised, actually, that he has grown as much as he has on the show because he of his age, and given that he already had a style that was sort of working for him. Good for him that he was open to to taking direction and improved so much.
I’m disappointed with what they have done with Anita. She has so much life and personality and is a pretty girl with a strong voice, but they seem to have hardened her and sent her into a weird direction musically. Taylor, I really liked last night. He’s an original, and he really had an entertaining performance which was much more open and full than in the past. I think Taylor and Craig had the best night.
I love Chris, but I wasn’t that enchanted with the song choice, although he did well with it and it showed another side to him. I would rather see something that showed his vocal range more, instead of so much dancing around and chanting.
All in all, I enjoyed the show and applaud the talented kids, which I think they all are, with varying strengths and levels of experience.

These are not professionals, (for the most part) but amateurs looking for guidance

I disagree. There are far too many extremely talented singers out there who can and would rise above. To allow mediocre singers to move forward is a disservice to those who should be there.

I think the point of The Voice is that these people are aspiring to be professional successes. Many of them, over the seasons, have been professionals looking to move on to the next level. While I can like people who aren’t of the requisite quality, that doesn’t mean they should move on to the later levels or win. It is too precious an opportunity to waste on them.

The producers of the show manipulate to appeal to the broadest demographic. Reagan is the sacrificial lamb to fill the 16 year old slot. Unfortunately, she could be doing damage to her voice in that role. I think we can all recognize the roles the other contestants are playing. Since there is so much “casting” done at all levels, we will never get the most talented lineup.

I have been wondering what I was missing with Reagan. Blake keeps saying he thinks she is, “The most important artist to ever be on this show.” So confused.

Blake always says stuff like that. Remember how he raved that Cassadee Pope, your classic cruise ship singer, did things that “no one else could do”?

In Reagan’s case, I think that he’s talking about her being cast to appeal to the Iggy Azalea market. Which is indeed something new for the show. I think it’s pretty clear that Chris is being cast to appeal in that direction also, and Taylor John (and Jessie) to the indie segment, and so forth.

I glanced at the iTunes tallies, and unles I picked one that is too early, it seems that the voters/buyers are mostly agreeing with was shared here. If the fairness extends to tonight, I think that it would be hard for Anita and Ryan to avoid the fate that should have been theirs a while ago. Reagan might be in trouble and probably very close to Anita, but there is little comparison in what the two could become. Unfortunately for both of them, it would take a miracle to go much further in case they escape the verdict tonight. Anita simply does not have the talent and Reagan would need much better choices than getting to around a questionable cacophony of a song by that Azalea. Blake has tended to be much better and leave the dumba$$ decision to his compadre on the opposite side – who had a night typical of his performances at the same level in the competition. Adam probably has the best team but they won’t survive more dubious choices.

I wonder if the coaches and producers saw that horrendous SNL show with Azalea that was easily the worst in a decade?

The bottom three: Anita just gave another awful, tune-free performance. Reagan did another edgy song. I prefer her to Anita. Ryan is singing another bland boy band sounding song. But he’s a lot easier to listen to.

I noticed that while Gwen said complimentary things about Anita, she did not actually say that she SOUNDS good, unlike Ryan.

I think Ryan won the bottom three sing-off by default–both of the girls were horrendous. As bland as his song was, it was head and shoulders above the other two. That leaves DaNica as the only girl left. Wow.

Anita must have not been able to hear. She was off key the entire song. Ryan should stop being the rocker he will never be and sing a sweet boy band ballad - like the ones he does on YouTube or the one that went viral - Titanium.
