I threw out an application I put together in an hour for SEAP the night of the deadline. I somehow got in, and I’m very inclined to accept. It’s a 4k stipend for 8 40-hour weeks. They give me a week to decide.
But I’m wondering if there’s anything better or stuff for which the deadline hasn’t passed yet? I just read about the Yale program and AFRL, which might be better, but idk.
You’re in SEAP. You’re not in anything else. If you turn down SEAP you risk walking away with nothing. If that’s ok, by all means, do it. If not, take the SEAP spot and build on it. As they say, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
You are getting a 4K stipend to work in a reputable, respected lab that does meaningful work, with a successful program that’s been curated over many years. It’s a great opportunity, assuming that you don’t have to relocate and don’t already have something lined up that’s closer to home. I’m unsure why you think AFRL would be better - ?? If the Yale program pays a stipend (vs costing you $$), then maybe - but the chance of an acceptance to such a program is incredibly slim.
