I got into Tulane by applying Early Action, but I didn’t get any merit scholarships. My GPA is a 3.8 on a 5.0 scale, but when I calculate my GPA from my grades this year alone so far, it is a 4.6. Is there a good chance that I could get a merit scholarship from this improvement? Does that happen often?

It depends on your SAT or ACT scores also. The basic answer is that there is always a chance, but if I calculate correctly your overall GPA would be about a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. This is below the stats for a merit scholarship, usually, unless there was some mitigating factor there and your standardized test scores were astronomical. Even with the good semester you just had, it probably won’t be enough. But, as I tell everyone that asks this, you have nothing to lose. I just would not expect anything. Sorry.
