Is there a "Do-over," button?

Hello. Before I actually begin, I will say I am sorry if I am not concise enough with this; I do not know how to word it.

I graduated high school back in 2006. In 2005, however, I began dual-enrollment at a local community college. In 2007 I moved to New Mexico to attend The University of New Mexico, but after being accepted, I left and went back to my local community college [Muskegon Community College, if you must know.]

While there [MCC] I pulled a less than average showing due to some family death issues. However, my last semester [Winter 2008] ended half way through. My car broke down and I was unable to get to the campus to drop my classes. I called all of my professors and checked to see if they could do the paper work for me, and they said they would, and later said they did.

However, somewhere along the college decided I needed to talk to someone about it in person. Because I learned of this six months after the fact, the grades were all put in as "In-completes, "and counted as “F’s,” on my transcript, putting my GPA down to 1.92. To make matters better I can’t make up the grades as during a cost cutting operation, the college removed 3 of the classes.

Fast forward to this year. I have been laid off of my job permanently, and my unemployment has run out. To find a new job I have traveled to the state of Georgia, but the work scene here is no better. I need to do something, and college looks like my only choice once again. I live near a few colleges, most notably Georgia Tech, but I do not think I can get in, at all.

My question is thus: Is there a way I can get a college to not look at my Community College? Can I get into college as a Freshmen again, and just start over, fresh? Will my AP scores still be counted if I can do that? If that is not possible, what are my options? I am very worried about what I can even do, and I have begun to feel that I will never get a degree, as I do not feel I can even be admitted.

Thank you for your time.

You won’t be able to pretend you never went to community college. You can though enroll in a GA cc, and then bring up the gpa through classes there, and transfer into G Tech. Do you have credits from the original university that will transfer? That will assist as well, if not…don’t stress…many people have had very rocky starts, which included whole semesters (or years) of W’s and F’s. Community colleges are wonderful opportunities and assuming you suffer no more family deaths/car issues etc., you will obtain transferable credit.

You can get a degree; don’t give up. It will just take a bit.

Yes, I have several credits that transfer.

Are the Georgia Community colleges even worth it? The one I went to felt so much like high school again.
