Is there a glimmer of hope?

My daughter is a junior who has a low GPA (2.0) due to physical and emotional challenges. She was put on med this year. Since medicated, her GPA is about a 3.0. She has not taken the SAT yet. I have been debating getting her accomodations for SAT, however the testing will be very costly. I do not want to spend the money for accom. on SAT if there is little of hope of her getting into a state school. I believe it is easier to get into a private college, but we are not able to afford one.

I think you put this post into the wrong category (Common Application), you might want to retry with a different one. I am not an expert on this, perhaps the Parents Forum might be a good place to find others that have experience here.

I would say, though, that if you properly fill out supplemental forms explaining your situation, I believe there is “a glimmer of hope.”

Colleges look for improvement, and from what I’m reading, it seems like she is. I would say go for it.
