<p>I have a pretty good profile other than standardized scores. So I’m retaking both tests in October and will miss the priority deadline since scores won’t get in in time. I’m kind of really worried and annoyed that I"m applying so late

<p>I had the same problem when I applied last year, and what I did was report my oct sat scores on my applytexas app. That way, you can apply before the deadline, but they’ll know to wait for your oct scores before making a decision. I also remember something of them waiting for oct sat scores to come in before evaluating any bhp apps that came priority. There’s no explicit advantage, but it’s there if you’re a borderline applicant.</p>

I thought that BHP Priority wants everything, including scores in by Oct 15… ALSO I’m taking the ACT Oct 26, would that be stretching the deadline…? Considering they wouldn’t receive my ACT score until mid- November? Also, IF BHP DEFERS ME… DOES THAT I AM DEFERRED FROM MCCOMBS TOO? If so, can I re-apply to McCombs/BHP for regular decision with additional testing scores from perhaps November? help!</p>
<p>The great thing about applying to BHP is they have student recruiters you can call to get answers to your questions! Even though the website directions seems clear, you may want to call to ask them if there is any “borderline applicant” advantage and if you can meet the Oct. 15 filing deadline but send test scores after. <p>Regarding test scores, UT only cares about the best single sitting. If you’re investing the time and expense of (re)taking both the ACT and SAT in October, it seems prudent to wait for both new scores to come out so you can compete on your single best score (be sure you haven’t mistakenly set up an order for an automatic score report to UT!). You will have to meet the Dec. 1 application deadline without your test scores because even though SAT will be back, ACT <em>with writing</em> probably won’t be back by Dec. 1 (they say allow 5-8 weeks). As long as your official score report from SAT or ACT is received by UT by Dec. 31, it is timely. (If the ACT just doesn’t come back in time to meet the Dec. 31 deadline, you’ll obviously need to submit SAT; then, if the ACT is better, you can always supplement with the ACT–it may not count as your official test score, but it is additional new information for your file.) Note, by default, SAT score reports are cumulative, i.e., they will reflect all prior test scores in addition to your Oct. test score. However, UT specifically allows you to exercise Score Choice and send only the best SAT score from a single sitting. So be sure to exercise that option when you order your SAT score report (if that’s your best test). If your ACT is better, then your score report order will be fairly straightforward, as ACT’s default score reporting is based on test date. -I remember a thread where someone had applied days after the priority deadline, and still managed to receive a response in December. Someone replied saying that they will wait for the October SAT score (or something like that).</p>

-When I applied, I took it as meaning the application must be in by Oct 15. I had SAT scores that were alright (but didn’t satisfy me), so I took it again in October, and since UT only looks at “one score sitting”, I set my SAT score as October 2011 on the applytexas app (at the time, I had not taken the Oct SAT yet). They will still be able to see all of your SAT scores, so it didn’t really matter that they saw the other ones; I just set it as October so they knew to wait for that score set. </p>

-Yes, this is way too late for priority. You would probably get moved to the regular pool. Or they would ignore your ACT score and evaluate you based on what you’ve turned in, and if you’re border-line, defer you and wait to see your score.</p>

-I’m pretty sure (judging from everyone’s experiences) that BHP doesn’t even look at you until McCombs does. Generally the order is UT acceptance >> McCombs acceptance >> BHP interview >> BHP result. If it happens out of order, it is probably a mistake (I knew one person who got the interview, and wasn’t even accepted to McCombs/BHP). Also, BHP admissions and McCombs admissions are completely separate and totally unrelated. Neither will affect each other.</p>

-No. If you apply priority, you will either be accepted, rejected, or deferred. Deferred means they are essentially giving you another chance and putting you in with regular decision and looking at any additional testing scores you may have acquired. So if you aren’t impressive enough with your current test scores, but your resume shows potential, they may wait to see if your scores have improved.</p>
