Is there a place on the common app to list courses taken through or from a 4 year university?

I have taken some courses at a 4 year university and community colleges.

I also have taken college courses at my high school, by high school teachers certified to teach the college course. (Dual credit)

Is there a difference between the 2? Does it still count as dual enrollment if it’s a college course taught at a high school, or does it have to be taught at the college?

If you high school course translates over to college credit as in you paid the college to take the class at the high school then it’s dual enrollment and you put it on the common app as dual enrollment etc.

For example, at my school you can take Senior Composition at the high school for 3 credit hours but you have to pay Purdue $75 when they send you the bill. You receive a college account etc. and you mark it on the common app as dual enrollment and put in the college’s information where you received the credit.

There is a drop down menu for current classes that gives option for dual enrollment. If its a college class and you are receiving credit from a local college and at the high school it should be dual enrollment. If its just a teacher certified to teach but you are not receiving credit at a local college for the course I don’t think it would then be considered dual enrollment. Best person to ask is probably your school.

I paid the college(IPFW) $300 to take it in my high school, as opposed to $900 for a student at the college. I also got a college(IPFW) account.

I took a Dual Credit Course at my high school in 10th grade but I dropped out of receiving college credit due to low grades 3 months into the course. However, I was still taking the course at my high school, I just wasn’t receiving the college credit at the end. Does it still count?

If you got college credit then put it down as dual enrollment. For the class you dropped out of how is it noted on your transcript? Colleges will request transcripts from the college you earned college credit from so if you didn’t receive credit then I wouldn’t put it down.

Well I originally got college credit from the class, but I dropped out of getting college credit 3 months into the course. However, I was still taking the class. On my transcript it says Adv CC Chemistry instead of just chemistry.

@scubadive Similar situation with my D…she took AP Bio at the high school with a high school teacher, but also paid to get college credits through a local college. She will have a transcript to send to whatever college she attends. We are leaning toward her listing it as a college course taken and checking off the box that asks if she received a transcript and the one that asks if college credit was awarded. She took the class last year though, so it can’t be listed on the ‘current classes’ drop down menu. Thoughts?

I am by no means an expert but logically I would put down the college name where it says list colleges/universities on the common application. You don’t need to list the course but you’ll probably have to send a transcript before your file is complete to be reviewed by admissions.

Will do. Thanks!
