Is there a point in submitting both my SAT scores and my ACT scores?

I took the SAT two times: I received a 1530 both times, but it superscores to a 1540 (730E/W & 800M) (740E/W & 790M), and my highest writing is a 19.

I took the ACT once and I received a 36 (36E/36M/35R/35S) with a 9 on writing.

Obviously, the ACT looks a lot better, but my SAT score isn’t too shabby either. I have two subject tests with good scores as well. Is there a reason to submit all three scores or should I just submit my ACT and leave it at that?

They’re all great scores; I would submit them all.

The ACT score will equate to about 1570 SAT. You can send the SAT scores but they likely won’t be used. If the school superscores/uses highest scores they will use the 36/1570. If they look at all of them, the SAT scores will just bring the average down. I’d just send the ACT.

I would send both. I think admissions has the presumption that kids almost always take both tests and having a missing one may raise red flags. In the last 2 years I’ve personally seen 4 kids with a perfect ACT but no reported SAT score get rejected to UCB and UCLA. It may not be the reason, but you never know. Both are great scores and one is not going to diminish the other by much.

I would just sent the ACT score.

Almost no students in my area took both the ACT and SAT, it was one or the other unless they did poorly in one.

You only need to send one score. Send the ACT since it’s higher. Save your parents a few bucks.

ACT only unless the school requires scores of all tests taken. The testing requirements and documentation have changed significantly the past few years. Read the instructions for each school carefully your applicable year.

I am less impressed with your SAT scores than with your ACT scores. At certain schools a 740 EBRW will look low. If I were an admissions officer, I would be less impressed by your application if you submitted your SAT scores.

Some schools such as Brown recommend two subject tests in addition to the ACT or SAT. In that case, would y’all recommend she send only the subject tests from the SAT or include the SAT 1 results as well?

Completely standard for students to report their ACT score plus SAT2’s w/o SAT1’s.

If the school requires additional scores, then obviously yes - submit the other scores. If not, submit the ACT score

Many schools will allow you to self-report. If this is the case, report all. Your ACT score will be the one that gets their attention, and the SAT scores reinforce that a) it wasn’t a ‘fluke’ and b) you are strong across both tests.

For the schools that require a report be sent, if money is a factor then just send your ACT.

^Don’t agree with that. No school is going to assume a 36 is a fluke. You have successfully ticked off the “ACT/SAT” box at the highest level. You are not going to get bonus points (except possibly in the rare case where you can report both a 36 and 1600). In fact if you sent multiple test scores, the school might assume you are just a trained test taker, which would not be a positive.
