DUKE? Is it possible?? It’s my first choice. I don’t know how I can demonstrate it to them except I already wrote a passionate essay and the friend letter thing. Help anyone?

Trust me, colleges consider sooo much more than your SAT score. A 2080 is enough to show that you don’t have a mental handicap which is basically all the SAT shows. It has just become number that shows how long you studied.

If you have strong grades, recs, ECs, and good GPA on a challenging courseload, you should be fine.

It’s POSSIBLE, not probable. The rest of your application would have to be stellar… it’s unlikely, but possible. There’s actually a thread going on right now with rare acceptance stories… there’s only a few, but it just goes to show that people who are otherwise phenomenal applicants aren’t rejected solely based on their SATs.
I’m assuming your application is already in? There’s really not much more you can do now except wait. Try not to worry, and if it happens, it happens.

im a white male from a rich suburban public school and I got a 1960 SAT, 3.4 uw gpa and got into cornell engineering.

I know a kid WITHOUT ANY MAJOR HOOKS who got into Duke 1940. Again, they look at your personality… Your scores are just part of it :)

It’s possible! SAT score is not everything. Work hard on other parts of your application. I trust that your effort will pay off. Good luck! ^^

Depends on the 2080.
Are we talking 1400/2080 or 1300/2080?
It makes a slight difference…
1300/2080 means you have no chance unless you have a hook.
1400/2080 boosts your chances up.

However, Duke seems to prefer extracurriculars over test scores…
