Is there a prettier song?

For anyone who likes ol’ hippy music, here’s some from a youngster, currently on a solo acoustic tour. He did about half his concert on a Letterman webcast Monday night:

[Ryan Adams: Live on Letterman](http://www.cbs.com/thunder/canplayer/canplayer.swf?pid=U2zoNWQh6yaDHnpLNTz1tAUJOaA3FNSD&partner=cbs&gen=1)

^^Hippie not hippy (unless you were referring to actual anatomical hips).

Exactly, Coureur. I thought IntDad might have been referring to the song covered by The Georgia Satellites in 1988 and featured in the film, Cocktail, or the 1990 song by Soho!

Heard this on folk radio yesterday & brought back memories

Ran across this by accident - it is fabulous - orchestral and choir music from Congo. It is grouped in youtube with many more.

Nice to revive this thread. Something I found recently on an internet radio station has a song that combines doo-wop and DeBussy:

[Rays (1) - Magic Moon (Claire De Lune) (1961) Doo Wop - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

^^^^That violin rift 12 sec. into the song is very cool!

This is another beautiful version of “Hallelujah”. Sung by Zak Resnick. I stumbled upon him on the Carnegie Mellon website…he sang “A Song for You” (Leon Russell), another beautiful song, as a musical theater student there in 2007. I think the kid’s amazing…

Here’s one that I could listen to all day…
Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard.

[ONCE: Falling Slowly - YouTube](<a href=“ONCE: Falling Slowly - YouTube”>ONCE: Falling Slowly - YouTube)

Can’t wait to see “Once” on Broadway!

Up thread I think I posted a similar link, with Glen & Eddie Vedder performing Falling Slowly at PJ20.

[Glen Hansard and Eddie Vedder - Falling Slowly - PJ20 Day 2 - YouTube](<a href=“Glen Hansard and Eddie Vedder - Falling Slowly - PJ20 Day 2 - YouTube”>Glen Hansard and Eddie Vedder - Falling Slowly - PJ20 Day 2 - YouTube)

I saw Glen open for Eddie three times last year & they make a wonderful combo. I had a huge grin on my face the entire time- just beautiful.
The tour this year is delayed cause Eddie is having back surgery, but I certainly am looking forward to seeing them again.

All the above…nice,

It’s on Rolling Stone- sorry there’s an ad first.
Maybe this means he is going to release a new album soon?

Speaking of Hallelujah, Renee Fleming sang it on Prairie Home Companion last week - the most wrong headed version I have ever heard.

Maybe we need a new thread…

mathmom, I agree, but later in the same show, Heather Masse and Aoife O’Donovan sang an amazing acapella version of Shouting on the Hills of Glory:

Under the “Audio” section in the middle, click “Segment 1,” then go to 23:28.

^Yes, that was lovely. And the next segment brought a smile for very different reasons. :)

Someone referred to Jennifer Warnes doing Cohen. I remember cranking my stereo ALL the way up for this one.

A song I always remember from when I was a little kid is by Meryl Streep called Gartan Mother’s Lullaby. Kind of haunting.

Haven’t read the whole thing but IMO, the most hauntingly beautiful song I’ve ever heard is Hurt by Johnny Cash.
