Is there a prettier song?

Of course- I didn’t say I didn’t. ;)

:)…

@#185 Scipio - Norah Jones / Come Away With Me

That’s one of the prettiest and sexiest songs we like!

“Song to the Siren” by This Mortal Coil:

[This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren (1983) HD - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

This version of This Mortal Coil featured the singer and the guitarist both formerly of The Cocteau Twins. “Song to the Siren” is an old Tim Buckley song, but this is by far the best version.

In the classical vein - Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, 2nd Movement -if it is played well.

Maybe this was already mentioned, but I recently discovered Zee Avi’s “Concrete Wall” off her Ghostbird album. Stunning.

I don’t think there is such a thing as prettiest song…

But I did listen to Roberta Flack’s version of “The First Time Ever I Saw your Face” on repeat for an hour and a half the other day.

Ok…so many people have mentioned Hallelujah…in this thread that I just listened to various versions for the last 35 minutes…

They were all incredible…I think I like Jeff Buckley’s version the best…But they were all so good…I am going to have to listen to this song for at least an hour tomorrow… :)

There are many, two of which are

I’m a big fan of Brandi Carlisle’s version of Hallelujah (love the Jeff Buckley version, as well). I swear, I cry every time I see the scene in Shrek where the song plays …

Loreena McKennitt’s song of the William Butler Yeats’ poem “Stolen Child” is sublime.

Whoa. This is one of the reasons why I have been a lurker since 27 year old son was a high school senior?! Totally!
I have spent all evening listening to lovelies from my past, laughing about Ripple and It’s A Beautiful Day, crying for the millionth time listening to Eva, thinking oh yeah gotta love her Roberta Flack, oh jeez Garfunkel sounds young in that one, and remember how son 2 hated it when I sang out Mary Chapin Carpenter’s Bug and Windshield song!
You folks are the greatest. If I had time off from listening to this (while “working”), I’d add something of my own. I actually did just go look through our audio catalog under “S,” thinking “I know there’s an early 70s band I thought was SO beautiful,” but dang, nothing hit. Could go on all night as far as fab music, but I know the thread is “pretty.”
Funny, no one has gone back to Joan Baez, whose voice at Newport and beyond has often been described thus. So that is my pitch, even though I haven’t a You Tube link for y’all.

I find ONJ’s “Slow Dancing” one of the prettiest, and Whitney Houston’s Nat’l Anthem the most moving.
