Is there a prettier song?

sewbusy thank you for the link to S&G’s Bridge…absolutely brilliant.

I love all those Dan Fogelberg songs. Also, I think the songs To the Morning and Souvenirs are very pretty.

Here’s some that I love:

Sting performing about a week after 9/11:

[Sting - America: A Tribute to Heroes (21 Sept 2001) - Fragile - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

From Toy Story 2 (I cry everytime I hear this one)

[Toy Story 2: When Somebody Loved Me. - YouTube](<a href=“Toy Story 2: When Somebody Loved Me. - YouTube”>Toy Story 2: When Somebody Loved Me. - YouTube)

Also, Billy Joel’s “Lullabye” and of course, The Beatles’ “Blackbird”

Justamom…Blackbird is also one of my favorites. Asked my talented son to learn it and play for me on guitar for my birthday gift…still waiting ;)

Honestly, I’m not a real country fan, but The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert is beautiful.

So glad I’m not the only old person out here who grew up on music with poetry for lyrics!
I’ve been lucky enough to see alot of my favorite artists in concert; I’m very frugal but it’s always been money well spent. Very vivid memory of watching Art Garfunkel just lean into the mike at Central Park and pour out Bridge; arms crossed over his torso, then in his jeans pockets, no biggie. Totally effortless. And kudos to PS for his fabulous poems set to great music. What a pair. I hope they’ll do a video sitting on a park bench next year when they hit seventy, singing “Old Friends”.

I know he doesn’t have a classically great voice although it is distinctive. Two extremely pretty songs by Neil Young are Helpless and Harvest Moon.

Speaking of Neil Young, “Don’t let it bring you down” is one of my faves. The Annie Lenox version is particularly pretty, and was featured in “American Beauty”.

Not sure if its been mentioned but I like “For a Dancer” by jackson browne. I think that’s the name of the song.

Oh. I also like “Ripple” by the Grateful Dead, but probably nobody’s heard of it. There are a few pretty Dead- Garcia songs. And “No Woman No Cry” by Bob Marley. I’m an old hippie.

^Ripple is a lovely song. I’m not really a Deadhead, only saw them live once, but I love just about every song on Skeletons in the Closet. Sugar Magnolia I think qualifies as a pretty song too.

[Bob Dylan - Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

[url=<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube]Fleetwood Mac - Landslide/url

Speaking of Neil Young, decades after it came out I still listen to the song “After the Gold Rush” over and over.

^^^ made me think of [linda ronstadt & dolly parton & emmylou harris after the goldrush - YouTube](<a href=“linda ronstadt & dolly parton & emmylou harris after the goldrush - YouTube”>linda ronstadt & dolly parton & emmylou harris after the goldrush - YouTube). Trio and Trio II/u and Western Wall:The Tucson Sessions/u contain any number of beautiful songs.

Anyone heard Lonestar’s I’m Already There?

Knowing mothers and wives whose men are serving in the military, I find this song moving. No politics involved, just missing the dad/husband.

There is a version of Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley on youtube that has amazing instrumentals.

I’d never heard of Jeff Buckley before this song.

“Oh. I also like “Ripple” by the Grateful Dead, but probably nobody’s heard of it.”#171

I have. I’m sure I have all their records, too, except maybe some bootlegs.

I first heard Jeff Buckleys version of Hallelujah on a West Wing episode.

( More Neil).

bovertine’s old hippie comment made me think of this song:
[It's A Beautiful Day - White Bird - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

(the youtube comments are a bonus)

EK, you do watch TV!!!
